Oriental scene in silhouette in large wooden picture frame -
day 205 of my 366 day challenge

HI Craft addicts!

Buy now...So for today's challenge, I have made this Oriental inspired Wall hanging/picture frame (measures 24x32cm approx) which I think is really stylish and would make a great gift (you can buy it from my website by clicking on the button to the right)

I first of all used one of the Oriental theme "Background Artists" silhouette picture from Pinflair (you can get them here and coloured it in using a variety of distress/dye based ink pads (from Tim Holtz and Generation InX) in red, orange, blue, purple and black colours to create a sunset scenario. I then burnished the silhouette shapes to get rid of any surplus inks.

I then edged the panel with some black alcohol marker pen and glued it onto a panel cut out in white cardstock using the Spellbinders Fanciful Lattice die template. Once it was dry, I then stuck it on to some black cardstock and then again on to an A4 piece of the same card.

Once I was happy it was straight, I placedd the whole thing onto the inner panel of the frame , again making sure it was straight by using some foam strips and Collall All purpose glue so I had time to manoeuvre it into place.

I had previously coated the outer frame a couple of times using Pebeo black Gesso acrylic paint and then, once it was dry, added a coat of varnish using the Zig marker pen (which is great for this type of project).

For the additional decorations, I used the Oriental embellishments which are on the Brother ScanNcut Tattered Lace USB 3 "Typically Tattered Lace". took them into CANVAs and enlarged them a bit, cut them out and then attached them on to the cream frame and put the rest of the frame together. I also cut a length of narrow white cord so you can hang it up but it does have the relevant attachments to hang it up directly on to a hook.

And there you are....a really simple but stylish gift which you can buy here
