There is beauty....butterfly silhouette 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is a simple but striking one that turned out a lot better than I thought it would! I rounded the corners of a 7x5in white card (from Hunkydory) using one of their punches. For the background/topper, I took a piece of white card and blended a variety of Hybrid inks (I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide, Nuvo Safari Green and Aladine Izinks ink pads) until I was happy with it and trimmed it to fit the Butterfly and flowers Embossing folder from Sizzix and ran it through my Big Shot. I decided to use the Butterfly for another project and so attached the background to some of Lynda Chapman's Black card and trimmed it to fit. I then used the largest die from Crafter's Companion Gemini Inner Scalloped rectangle set and cut it out in the same black card and used a Dotty tape pen to stick it to the main topper. Using PVA glue I then attached it to the front of the card towards the top so that I could add the...

Hi Craft addicts!   Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is this fun card inspired by a video I saw from Gina K Designs on You Tube... I took a piece of white card and added the squares to it directly using a variety of ink pads from Aladine's Izinks - not being too worried that some of them were quite juicy and added a bit more colour in the corner. I left it to dry and then placed it on to a stamping platform and taped it down. I placed the abstract flower (from Dylusions toadstool stamp collection) on to the design, picked it up and inked it with Gina K Obsidian Black ink and pressed down. I did this a couple of times as I wanted the silhouettes to really stand out. I then added the Do Your thing sentiment (from a Woodware Stamp collection) to the bottom left hand corner again using Gina K ink I cut the panel to about 4.5" and rounded the corners with a Hunkdory punch and then stuck it to some of Lynda Chapman's Black card, trimmed it and then rounded thos...

Rose and pocket watch Life is better... laughing 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card is one using Stamps by Me products for my 365 day challenge. I had cut out a circle in a piece of card for another project and decided to use it as  a mask to colour another piece of white card using some "grungy" colour ink pads (Mainly Tim Holtz) I then stamped the Rose and pocket watch image (from a Stamps by Me collection) on top of the the ink using Gina K Black Obsidiain ink. I used Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer Crystal Tints (Orange and yellow) as paints to colour the stamped image.  I trimmed a piece of the wood effect Stamps by Me paper pad I had to fit the front of a 7x5" white card (leaving a narrow border all around). Using the same Crystal Tints I coloured the card that had the circle aperture in it until I was happy with the result. I stuck it to the stamped it image using PVA glue and then attached that to some black card which I then trimmed to fit the card. Once I had glued the whole topper panel o...

Something Beautiful is on the horizon... safari scene 5" square card

Something Beautiful is on the horizon... safari scene 5" square card Hi Craft addicts! I have had the Stamps By Me Gossip inks for ages and thought I better use them and this is the result... How I made this card:- The base card is a 5" square one which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc.... I took 3 inks from the set (they don't have names on the bottles), and using the pipettes provided, put some orange, red and the darker red onto a palette. I then took a waterbrush and painted a piece of white stamping card (this is Hunkydory's Ink Me card but you could used watercolour card but I wanted a smooth surface) using the orange first and then the red and finally the darker red. The inks have a Mica in them so when you look at it when it is dry you can see a sheen to the card. Once it had dried, I added various images from the Go Wild stamp set from For The Love of Stamps using Gina K Black ink. I stamped the bi...

You Don't have to be perfect....Kids flying kites on hand coloured background square card  Hi Craft addicts! I had such fun creating the background for this card using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons - the rest of the card was made using Tattered Lace Dies and a Stamp by Me stamp..... How I made this card:- I used a pre cut panel of white stamping card (6" x 6" from either Hunkydory or Rare Earth) for the base layer and began colouring the sky in using most of the blue Tim Holtz Distress Crayons - blending them in with my finger as I went - I also found that spritzing my finger with water helped smooth the edges out. I also spritzed more water on to the card and blotted it with some kitchen roll to give the impression of clouds. I then used various green crayons to create the grass, using the darker colours to add some dimension again spritzing it with water to blend it in.  I then used the Black Soot crayon towards the centre of the panel to add some landscap...

Be Happy Stained glass effect butterfly A6 card -  Day 218 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is a quick and easy A6 card that I made using Stamps by Me stamp, a stencil, alcohol markers and inks. How I made this card:- I cut out the butterfly using one of the Stamps by Me dies in black card and stuck it on to some white using Midas Touch Sticky dots (my new favourite way of attaching fiddly die cuts to something else - I will try the Sticky roll too soon!) I coloured it in using a variety of alcohol markers (trying to blend colours in to make them stand out more). I then cut it out leaving a narrow border around it. Using an oval mask (from a mixed 7" set from Clarity Stamps, I inked the external part of it using orange, red and brown inks (Hunkydory's Prism and Altenew red), trying to give it a feathered effect. I then stamped the Happy sentiment (from Craftwork Cards) directly on to the front of the card as it gives a sort of rop...

You don't have to be beautiful to be perfect DL card - Day 216 of my 365 day challenge

You don't have to be beautiful to be perfect DL card -  Day 216 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is a mix of Tattered Lace dies, Stamps by Me stamps and Altenew inks.... How I made this card:- I first of all cut out the mat and layer from a Kraft coloured card and white for the smaller one. Whilst the latter was still in the die, I coloured the inside of it using a few green ink pads from Altenew (Parrot, Olive and Bamboo) so that when I took it out of the die there was still a white border around it. I then used the grasses stamp from Stamps by Me and stamped it to the left of the die-cut using Versafine Onyx Black ink - I deliberately let it go over the white border by the way! I cut a strip of Vellum/parchment and stuck it to the middle of the larger layer attaching it at the back with tape. I then used one of the green Altenew inks (I think it was Parrot) to stamp the sentiment, You don't have to be perfect... all over the front...

We can do anything.. trio of butterflies DL card -  Day 203 of my 365 challenge Hi Craft addicts! Am back having taken the weekend off blogging, though I still added 2  cards to my Instagram page to keep up with my challenge. I have always liked Gina K - both her videos and her products, and this is the first time I have had any to use so made this card.... How I made this card:- I took a 12" ruler and created the border around a side folding DL landscape white card (from Paper Boutique) using a black alcohol marker making sure first that it didn't bleed through to the back of the card. I then used a dauber and coloured the edges in Parrot Altenew ink (having masked off the inside part of the card first). I used the largest of the "Butterfly Kisses" set of stamps from Gina K and stamped 3 of them out on to white stamping card in Bamboo Altenew Ink. I then added the 2nd part of the design, this time using Parrot on two of them and Versafine Onyx Bla...

Maybe one day quotation hand coloured box frame -  Day 186 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's project for day 186 of my 365 day challenge is one I am  really pleased with - I am trying to do more home decor items and this is one that I might just hang on my wall! How I made this project:- I first of all took a piece of white stamping card (just a bit smaller than A6) and dusted it with an anti-static bag and then stamped the quote (from Rare Earth) onto it using Versamagic ink. I then added some white super fine embossing powder to it (I used Cosmic Shimmer True White) and heat set it with a heat gun. I used various colour distress and dye based inks (Tim Holtz, Catherine Pooler and Altenew) - greens, blues, reds and pinks to colour over the words, blending them all as I went).  When I was happy with the result, I used some kitchen roll to remove the excess ink. I also used a water brush to tap some drops of water over it and used the ki...
