Happy Birthday with Butterflies 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card is one I have made using dies, stamps and a background I created using alcohol inks. I first of all cut a panel of Yupo paper slightly larger than I knew I would need and created a background using pastel alcohol inks (pinks, greens, yellows and blues) and put it to one side. I then cut a mat layer slightly smaller than the 5" x 7" white card and then another one again slightly smaller using Lynda Chapman's Black Card and another one yet smaller in a bright green card (from Crafter's Companion) and stuck them on top of each other using PVA glue. I then added some self adhesive paper on to some more of Lynda Chapman's Black card and cut out the butterfly topper (I think it is from a Stamps By Me collection), removed the backing sheet and attached it to the background burnishing it down so that it was completely stuck down. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from Crafter's Companion and I stamped it on to some white...

Hello... distance is a reason to love harder.. fish and flowers 7x5 inch card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card would be great to send to a friend that you haven't seen for ages! I used my Prism punch to round the corners of a 7" x 5" white card and then scored it twice on each side to give it a decorative feature. I then stamped out the Floral Bubbles (fish and flowers) on to some white smooth cardstock and coloured it in using Be Creative Twilights watercolour paints until I was fairly happy with the result. I rounded the corners of that too and then coloured the border with a black alcohol marker. I had created a background some time ago using a variety of alcohol inks and decided to use it for the mat layer and so attached the stamp topper on to it with some PVA glue. I then added that to the front of the card again with PVA glue. I took the Hello and Distance sentiments from one of Lisa Horton's range and stuck them to some white card and gave them both a wavy edge and used foam pads to stick them to the card at the ...

Happy Birthday Steampunk cat A6 card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! Well today's card is a fun one I made using a background using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, dies and stamps.. to read more see below the pic (and again it is a white card not beige!)... I first of all added some Wild Spider self adhesive paper to some Lynda Chapman's Black card. I then used Dawn Bibby's Mechanical Menagerie Cornelius the Cat Steampunk die set and cut the cat itself and hat in the black card and then cut out the monocle in Gold Mirror card. I had used Tim Holtz Distress Crayons to create a background which I had some left so placed the die cut over it and attached it (after removing the backing sheet). I then cut around it and edged it with a black alcohol marker so you couldn't see any white edges. For the card itself, I first of all rounded the corners with a Prism (Hunkydory) punch and then used their scoring board to score it a couple of times at the top and bottom. I used PVA glue to attach the cat topper to the centre of the card a...

Just for You tulip outline DL card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!    Once again, the idea I had in my head didn't turn out too badly in reality and so thought I would write about how I made it... though it is white card in reality! I used Hunkydory's Prism corner punch to round the corners of both a DL card and having cut out the panel previously in dark blue card, I rounded the corners of that too. The white panel is cut out using a Lisa Horton slimline die but any other rectangular die will do. I then used the Tulip outline die from Stamps by Me Fragile Florals set and cut out the outline in black card having first attached some Wild Spider self adhesive sheet to the reverse. I had made a background using Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Crayons on Yupo heavyweight paper and cut the mat layer out of it and stuck the outline to it having taken the backing sheet off it first! I stuck the white mat layer on to the blue panel and stuck both of them on to the front of the DL card using PVA glue (either Pinflair's Bookbinding or Da...

Special person deserves a special day floral spray 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! I am really pleased that I have been able to keep up with my personal 365 day challenge! Here is my latest card.. hope you like it! I used various pastel pearlescent alcohol inks to create the background - I used Yupo card or paper for the substrate as it is ideal for these types of inks. Even though it dries almost immediately, I put it aside for the time being and cut out the floral spray (from Stamps By Me) in black card (Lynda Chapman's is great) which I had attached to some Wild Spider Self adhesive sheet. I removed the backing sheet and placed it over the background and burnished it to stick it down. I then stamped out the sentiment using Gina K Obsidian Black ink on to white stamping card, cut around it giving a wavy edge and then glued it to some black card and gave that a wavy edge too. I stuck the whole topper to the front of a 7" x 5" white card using PVA glue and then added the sentiment with foam pads. Finally, I used a few drops of Black ...

Hip Hip Horray Dragonfly Happy Birthday card using alcohol inks

Hip Hip Horray Dragonfly Happy Birthday card using alcohol inks Hi Craft addicts! Well, I have been playing with alcohol inks again to create a background and decided to use it to make this Dragonfly themed Birthday card.... How I made this card:- I used Yupo paper (the translucent version) from Ranger and added a variety of alcohol inks, again from Ranger, to it (just dropping it on and seeing the results). When it was totally dry, I used the Dragonfly Square die from Sweet Dixie and cut it out. I I then stuck it on to a piece of white card using Pinflair Glue-it glue and cut around it leaving a very narrow border. I also used a black alcohol marker to edge it. I decided to use the Creative Expressions Modern Classic sentiments set (designed by Lisa Horton) and stamped the Hip Hip Hooray in each corner (it was only afterwards that I realised I had slipped doing one). I used Black Gina K Amalgam ink to stamp them and then again to stamp the Happy Birthday on to some whi...

Birthday Wishes... abstract stars A6 cream deckle edge card

Birthday Wishes... abstract stars  A6 cream deckle edge card Hi Craft addicts! I have been playing with Alcohol inks on Yupo paper (it has a great effect) and wondered what I could do with the background I had made and came up with this card... How I made this card:- I first of all took a pre cut panel of 5" x 7" Ranger Translucent Yupo paper (it is synthetic and recyclable which makes it more environmentally friendly) and added a variety of alcohol inks (again Ranger) on to it to create a varied background - see below for one like it.... I then left it to dry (though it does do that almost immediately) and then used the Synergy Die (Paper Piece 5) from Toni Darroch's Stamp by Me Range to cut it out - I did add a sheet of paper over it as I didn't want any of the colour to come off it so made 2 for the price of one! As the die itself is about 8", the die-cut had a lot of edges "open" so decided to trim three of the stars out of i...
