Trio of flower themed cards - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Well today's latest blog is about these three different cards I made using Lisa Horton Flowers.... I had created some backgrounds using a variety of products from Himi Silk Crayons to Tim Holtz Distress Crayons and thought they would make good flowers. I cut out the various flower shapes from the Shabby Florals die set from Lisa Horton and then cut out the stalks in green card. I really like this backing paper which Becky Seddon produced for her collection and thought it would make the flowers really stand out and so trimmed a couple of pieces to fit the cards used and stuck them to the card with a tape pen - I wouldn't use PVA glue as it would show through the paper. Two of the cards are small (4") cards and I used two different punches (from Kit n Caboodle and Prism from Hunkydory) to round the corners along and then scored the edges with my Prism Scoreboard with an A6 card too. For the A6 card, I used one of the larger blooms and a ...

Just Because... mouse on flowers 2 A6 cards

Just Because... mouse on flowers 2 A6 cards Hi Craft Addicts! Well we're back to cloud today but hopefully these 2 cards will cheer things up! How I made these cards i first of all cut out the Mouse on a flower Paper Cuts Edger die twice - once in Black and the other in yellow card.  I trimmed them both so they fitted the front of the cards - one is an A6 and the other A2 (both roughly the same size but one is American size). I then glued them to the front of the cards using Pinflair's Glue it Glue. Using White embossing powder for both sentiments, I first of all stamped the Just Because phrase out on to black card and a pale Kraft card with Versamark (having dusted both with an anti-static bag first). I then heat set the powder and cut around them. I then attached both of them to the bottom of the cards using foam pads. And there you are 2 very simple cards but you could produce a set of them and put them in a box as they would make a great gift. Don...

Just Because... green and white themed flower 6" square card. Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card is a very quick and easy one to make but looks very stylish (well I think so anyway!)... Hunkydory have such great products and this is just one of them... How I made this card:- The base card is a 6" square one which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc.... The main image is a preprinted one from Hunkydory's Prism Colouring pads Volume 2.. there are several of each design so you can easily decoupage them - I have an idea as to what I might do next so watch this space! I decided that I wanted it to be just one colour and white, so coloured all the leaves in using Hunkydory's Prism Green alcohol markers - adding the lightest one first, then the darker one and then blending them together. I then took 2 pieces of Hunkydory's Green (striped on one side and plain on the reverse) Colour Family paper pa...

Just Because...swan on black background monochrome DL card

Just Because...swan on black background  monochrome DL card Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is a really quick and easy card that you can make in a few minutes -  great for those last minute cards you need... How I made this card:- I took the Stamps By Me Lattice Synergy No. 5 die and cut it out in black linen effect card (from Create & Craft). It is a large die so you will need a large die-cutting machine. I then folded it in half, making sure all sides match - the topper part is only attached in a couple of places so it become a sort of easel card (without the easel bit). You could put acetate/card at the back of the cut out bit and colour the flowers in but I have just left it as is. I cut out the Swan and cygnets in white card from a Tattered Lace die and attached it to the topper with foam pads so it had some dimension in parts. I then stamped out the Just Because sentiment on to white card using a Birch Press Design stamp. I was trying out the Obsidi...

Just Because... dogs in silhouette on hand painted background  A6 card...  Hi Craft addicts! I hope you all had a great weekend and are looking forward to the week ahead! I had fun painting the background and then deciding what to use it for - these dog silhouettes were just the right thing! How I made this card:- The base card I used is a white linen effect A6 card - I think these came from Craft Creations but any will do of course. I first of all die-cut the dogs (from the Fun, Frolics and Flight Tattered Lace Collection) out in black card. I chose these two as they look as if they are coming from different directions. The card is Lynda Chapman's black card from Creative Crafting World. I then took a small piece of white card (I used stamping card but watercolour card would do just as well) and created the sea scene using Kuretake's Gansai Tambi Pearl Colors and Cosmic Shimmer Iridescent Shimmering watercolour paints. I love these paints as the paper shimm...

Just  Because....Floral B on vellum on hand inked background  A6 card Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is one I have made using stamps, matching dies, some vellum and a hand inked background that I created myself. How I made this card:- This is a lovely, bright and cheerful floral A6 white card that is very simple to make.... I used the Stamps By Me Just Because stamp and matching die set and cut out the middle sized B several times in white card and then stamped the floral B on to some white stamping card, placed the die over it, taped it down and cut it out. I coloured the flowers etc out Prism watercolour pencils and blended them in. Using PVA glue, I then attached all of the cut out bits together so that it had some height and then added the actual coloured one on top of them. I used my anti static bag and rubbed it over a strip of vellum (measures 2.5" deep and about 6" long as it needed to fold over the background to attach it). I eyeballed wher...

Just Because Chrysanthemums and Tulips Shaped card

Just  Because Chrysanthemums and Tulips Shaped card  Hi Craft addicts! I have had these shaped cards for ages and really had no idea what to do with them until I had this idea - using Thirsty Brush dies/stamps along with Hunkydory's Prism alcohol pens and a Just because sentiment... How I made this card:- I had some ink daubers with some ink left on them so decided to create this pastel background with what was left - I blended them in so they made new colours too! I decided to ink both the front part of the card along with the part of the inside that is showing. I then stamped out the large flower image (from the Chrysanthemum die and stamp set from Thirsty Brush on to some white stamping card using Gina K's Amalgam ink (so I can use both alcohol markers or watercolours) and coloured them in using Hunkydory's Prism Alcohol markers - I decided to make them bright and cheerful as I thought it would make it stand out more.  Once I was happy with the shading ...

Just Because black A5 top fold card with Glittery Unicorn ....

Just Because Black A5 top fold card  with Glittery Unicorn .... Hi Craft addicts! I was so pleased with how this card turned out - I love the Glitter/Satin pastes and stencils from Glitz Crafts. So find out how I made it here.... How I made this card:- I used some low tack stencil tape to attach the Unicorn mask (see below to see where the products come from) to the front of an A5 Black top fold card. I then used one of the spatulas that come in the pack to spread the paste over the Unicorn. As you can see,I used three different colours to give a more interesting effect - two are Glitter Frosted and one has a Satin effect. I removed three sides of the masking tape to check that the Unicorn was ok and as it was, I took the last piece of tape off and put the card aside to dry (it takes about 10-15 minutes). Whilst it was drying, I then took the Just Because sentiment (from a Birch Press Designs set) and stamped it on to a piece of card that I had previously p...

Just Because blue and white floral 7x5in card - Day 242 of my 365 day challenge

Just Because blue and white floral 7x5in card -  Day 242 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I am really pleased with how this floral themed card turned out - monochromatic using blue and white for day 242 of my 365 day challenge. How I made this card:- I cut out the panel behind the flower using a Spellbinders Create a Card die, and keeping the card in it, I coloured through the die using a variety of blue Distress and dye based inks (Tim Holtz and Altenew). Once I was happy with the blending, I took the card out of the die and added it to some blue Hunkydory Flexiweight card and trimmed round it to leave a small border. I cut the sunflowers out from White cardstock, once again using a Tattered Lace die. I then attached it to the main panel using the Midas Touch Sticky dots. I drew two lines across the bottom of the card using a Tonic Studios black alcohol marker - I like these pens as they don't actually bleed through to the back of the card if done light...
