Sea Scene with galleon, lighthouse and treasure A4 canvas - handpainted mixed media Hi Craft addicts! Today's project for Watercolour Wednesday is a canvas I have created using watercolour paints, dies, stamps and alcohol markers...it definitely needs improving as it is my first attempt at a larger composition.. How I made this project:- The first thing I did was to lightly draw in pencil where i wanted the various places to go on a prepared A4 canvas, such as the sand dunes, sea and skyline. I then started on the sky, using various shades of blue Watercolour paints - this time I used Kuretake's Gansai Tambi but any will do... I also added some white, grey and darker blue to give the impression of clouds in the sky. I then used darker blue shades to create the sea, adding a bit of green and white once dry. I also used some black paint to create the land in the distance (this definitely needs work on - but there again so does everything else). Using yell...

Celebrate! Watercolour sea scene hand painted  7x5in card Hi Craft addicts! I am really trying to learn how to watercolour (with a varying degree of success) but thought I would use this scene I painted to make this Celebrate card...... How I made this card:- I had this shaped oval left over from a previous project, and thought that I would use it to create the scene and used pinks, oranges, yellows, reds and blues watercolour paints (any will do, but I used the ones in the Watercolour Wheel that Toni Darroch's Stamps by Me sold some time ago. When I was fairly happy with it, I let it dry naturally and then edged it with a bright blue alcohol marker. I wanted to add some items to it, so used the bird and yacht stamps from the Lighthouse Harbour set For the Love of Stamps range adding 3 birds and 2 ships to the scene using Black Gina K Amalgam ink. I realised that a part of the scene wasn't quite dry when I stamped it and so would make sure it was the next time ...

Relax, Calm Unwind Seaside and Fish n Chips sign 7x5in card - Day 252 of my 365 day challenge

Relax, Calm Unwind Seaside and Fish n Chips sign 7x5in card -  Day 252 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I have been practising using watercolours - both inks, stamps and "proper" palettes and so am just beginning to learn how complicated it really is! How I made this card:- I created the background by using the Dreamees Chalk inks - both the cubes and the re-inkers - gradually laying down various colours to create the sky, sea and land. I realise now that I need to let it dry before adding a new colour on to it as it just becomes a sludgy colour if I don't! Once it was dry, I realised it would make a great sea scene (I don't start off with a plan as you can see!) and so added some white to the sea to create wave effects and also some rays to the area that I thought looked like the sun. I then cut out the Fish n Chips sign out of white cardstock (it is a Tattered Lace die) and coloured it in using Pink and Green alcohol markers for the bunti...

Love anchors the soul - sea scene with lighthouse C6 card - day 182 of my 365 day challenge

Love anchors the soul - sea scene with lighthouse C6 card -  Day 182 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I know I shouldn't be complaining but I do think it is a bit hot now and so I  have made this sea scene as that is where I would like to be right now! How I made this card:- I first of all I created a sea scene at sunrise or sunset using Tattered Angels Color Wash paints. I tried to reflect the sun on the waves by mirroring what I did at the top on the bottom. I then used some paper to mask off both most of the panel leaving a small area (at an angle) and coloured through it using True Graphite Altenew ink to create the land. I added some shadows to under the land and in the waves with some alcohol markers and then added some white gel pen to some of them to create the "foam". I then used the smaller of the boats in the Ahoy Matey Stamp set from the For The Love of Stamps (by Hunkydory) and stamped them in various places on the water. I also ad...

Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging - hand coloured background - Day 149 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Well it is raining here at the moment and very very stuffy and so this Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging is something to cheer me up! How I made this project:- I first of all covered the front of this shaped MDF plaque with some white card using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue and trimmed it to fit. I then used Tattered Angels Colour Wash Paints to create the sea background (mainly blues, blacks and a hint of white). When it was dry, I added a bit of water to a brush and took some of the colour away to give it some dimension. I also added a hint of white to try and give the impression of waves. I then stamped the Mermaids, seaweed and turtles on to it using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then cut out one Cloud die (from Memory Box) in grey paper and added some shading to it using a darker alcohol marker and placed it on the left hand side. I stamped out the tree stump o...

Sun Sea Sand - sunrise or sunset hand coloured square card -  Day 148 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I have had great fun making this card and was quite pleased with how the sunrise/sunset turned out - still learning obviously but hopefully I am getting there! As it is a Bank Holiday here in the UK, this will be brief! How I made this card:- I used the Set Sail Mask and added a border to a 7in square card using blue Altenew Ink. I then cut a piece of white hammered card and added the fishes and anchors (the fish in blue and the anchor using Versafine Onyx Black ink) and edged in with a blue alcohol marker. I then coloured in the sunset scene using a half circle mask to leave a place where I wanted the sun to go and then coloured both the top and bottom of the panel with various shades of blue Tim Holtz Distress and Altenew inks - trying to give the impression of reflections in the bottom half. I then took two pieces of card and placed them at different ...

Hello - Garden shed and sea scene - hand stamped and coloured 7x5in card - Day 144 of my 365 day challenge

Hello - Garden shed and sea scene - hand stamped and coloured 7x5in card - Day 144 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I am really pleased with the way the colouring of this card went, in fact, I really like this card and could quite easily be in a boxed frame to make a home decor project! How I made this card:- I took a piece of A6 white stamping card and divided it roughly into thirds and coloured the bottom 2/3rds with green dye based/distress inks - Tim Holtz and Altenew provides different shades to create the grass effect. I then coloured the top third with blue shades (again Tim Holtz and Altenew), trying to blend them in to create the sky. I added some green shade to the bottom part of the blue section to try and make it a bit more sea like. I cut out the Clouds in white card using Memory Box (Poppy Dies) and stuck them to the cloud part of the image, overlapping them in the middle where I knew the shed would go. I then added a narrow darker line just unde...
