Congrats... square card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is this Congratulations stamp and some patterned paper. I must admit i can't remember who produced this patterned paper but think it is Paper Boutique from Creative Crafting World.. I rounded the corners of a 5" white square card and thought I would use it as a tent fold (that is with the fold at the top). I then cut out a piece of this foliage patterned paper so that there was a narrow border left when I placed it on the front of the card. Instead of adding a layer of black card behind it, I edged it with a Black alcohol marker and stuck it on using a tape runner pen - so many companies now do them or you could used  a light layer of PVA glue. I then cut a narrow panel (about 2") of the same paper so that it fitted the card and then stuck it to a slightly wider panel of Lynda Chapman's Black cardstock and stuck that to the card slightly left of the card front. I then placed the bird and...

Enjoy your Special day - bird on branch A6 card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is an A6 card using dies and stamps from a variety of companies.... I first of all coloured a piece of white card with a variety of brown hybrid/distress oxide inks to create the hessian colour.  Once I was happy with the colour, I left it to dry for a bit and cut out the Bird die from Tattered Lace (it is called Sentimental Blossom) out of Lynda Chapman's Black card and then the mat layer out from a wood effect piece of card/paper from Stamps by Me and attached the bird to it using a dotty tape pen (which allows the glue only to stay on the card and not the empty spaces). To create the background for the bird to "sit" on, I used the Shabby Basics - Cheesecloth die (designed by Sue Poole) from Creative Expressions and cut it out using the card I had previously coloured in. I rounded the corners of an A6 card using the Hunkydory Prism punch and then attached the Cheesecloth die-cut on to it ...

Especially for you.. lovely friend bird on branch 7x5in black card - 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card was a surprise to me as I wasn't too sure how it would turn out but am pleased with the result. I still have some of Create & Craft's black pearlescent 7" x 5" cards and thought I better use them up and so rounded the corners with a Prism punch from Hunkydory and then used their scoreboard to score 3 lines towards the bottom of the card. I stamped the bird on a branch image (from Stamps By Me It's All About You range) on to some white card using Gina K Obsidian Black ink - as it is a Hybrid ink it means I can use it for either watercolour or alcohol paints or inks. I then had some watercolour paints left in my palette (gosh that sounds pretentious) from other projects. They were a mix of Be Creative's Metallic Gold Twilights for its' head and some brown and green watercolour paints from a variety of sources for the branches and leaves. I then stamped out the two sentiments (again from the It's All A...

Happy Birthday Birds and flowers A5 shaped card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! I really loved making this card - something different from me as I am determined to use up what is in my Crafty Stash! I love these papers from Toni Darroch's Stamp by Me and these are part of the It's All About You - Vibrant tones set (8" pad) and so used the yellow poppies and the faded bird options in it. I first of all cut half of the the front of an A5 white card off as I wanted the recipient to see both the faded paper and the sentiment straight away. I trimmed the bird paper to fit the inside of the card and then rounded the corners using a Hunkydory Prism punch and stuck it inside the card. I then used the Happy Birthday sentiment stamp and stamped it directly on to the Bird paper using Gina K Obsidian Black ink. I trimmed a piece of the Yellow Poppy paper (approximately 2" x 6") and attached it to some of Lynda Chapman's Black card and then used some PVA glue to stick it to the remaining part of the front of the card (I had rounded ...

Hello! Birds in tree with nest of eggs 7x5in White card - 365 Day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! I wasn't quite sure how this card would turn out but in the end I was pleased with the result - I hope you like it too! I stamped out the birds image out on to some white stamping card approximately 4.5" x 3.5" (this is a Stamps by Me set) using the Gina K Obsidian Black ink. I then coloured the nest and birds using Spectrum Noir Triblenders brown pens (there are 2 different ones in the Deep Blends collection. I used a Green Triblender to colour in the leaves and twigs (again from the Deep Blends collection). I thought it looked a bit stark, so I used Tim Holtz's Crackling Campfire Distress Oxide ink to colour the white card, trying to get an Ombre effect by making it darker at the top. I then edged it with a Black alcohol marker using the Chisel end and stuck it to the front of a 7x5in white card. Finally, I took the Hello Sentiment stamp from Lisa Horton Essential Words set and stamped it at the bottom of the card again using Gina K's ink. I ho...

Hello.... Crane in reeds C6 card

Image
Hello.... Crane in reeds C6 card Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is a very quick and easy one to make and here is how I made it... How I made this card I first of all took a panel of white stamping card and cut it slightly smaller than an A6 (or A2) card. I then cut out the crane in reeds die (I think it is a Pretty Quick one) in Black card and stuck it on to the middle of the panel using Glue it Glue from Pinflair. Once it was stuck down, I then tapped some Electric Blue Cosmic Shimmer (Shimmer Shaker) all over it and spritzed it with water until i was happy with the effect it created. I then left it to dry overnight and then used a sponge dauber to edge the panel with Salty Ocean Tim Holtz Distress ink and then used a Bright Blue alcohol marker to finish it off. Finally, I used one of the Hello sentiments from the Craftwork Cards Year of Sentiments pad and placed it in the bottom right hand corner. I used Pinflair Glue-it Glue to attach the whole panel to the f...

Wish... Bird on branch silhouette on rainbow background 7x5in card

Wish... Bird on branch silhouette on rainbow background 7x5in card Hi Craft addicts This was really great fun to make using dies and a rainbow background I created using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. How I made this card:- I had created two backgrounds on some white card using the Rainbow coloured Distress Crayons - I added one colour at a time (in stages) and blended them in again one at a time. I then used a paintbrush and water to smooth the colours out. Whilst they were drying, I used the middle 2 dies from the Oceana Layering Die set from Tonic Studios and cut the background frame out. I really like this die as it is quite unusual. I also cut out the Birds on branches die (from Tattered Lace) in Black cardstock as I thought it would look great as a silhouette on the rainbow background. I then cut out the Wish sentiment die (from the Birthday Bonanza Moonstone set by Hunkydory) in the 2nd piece of Rainbow coloured card. I also found out that I can use the waste on ano...

Mermaid Canvas with textured background and Congratulations Bird A6 card

Mermaid Canvas with textured background and Congratulations Bird A6 card Hi Craft addicts! As I have missed a couple of days posting anything, I thought I would show you two totally different things I have made for the 100 Day Challenge.... Mermaid stamp on 4" Canvas..  How I decorated the canvas:- I took a 4" white stretched canvas (Student Art) and covered it several times with Blue, Green and black Radiance Paints from Stamps Away - must admit I have had them for ages and didn't think they would be usable but had no trouble with them at all! Whilst the paint was still wait, I added more to the canvas, this time with the straight edge of a paintbrush raising it slightly to give it some texture. I then left it to dry overnight. I had one of these Mermaids already cut out (from Time For Tea stamp set) and thought it would go really well with it and attached it to the canvas with the relevant glue. I haven't added any cord or ribbon but will at a lat...

Cherish Every Moment - bird on branch A6 white card

Cherish Every Moment - bird on branch A6 white card Hi Craft addicts! I thought I would carry on with my new resolution of writing my blog again with this simple but effective A6 card that I have made for #WorldCraftWeek (and #TheHundredDayChallenge). How I made this card... I have had this Bird die from Tattered Lace and was nervous about using it as I didn't know quite how to colour it in as I am not proficient at water colouring (so far). Then I had a brainwave and coloured a piece of cream hammered card with various brown shades (using Tim Holtz's Distress Crayons (which I really love) - such as Aged Mahogany and Walnut Stain. I wasn't too careful where I added the crayon but made sure that I blended each area in before I moved on to the next... Once I was happy with the shading (having thought about what colours I wanted the bird to be), I then used a medium paint brush and blended all of the colours in further with water. I used a heat gun to dry it b...
