Dance with fairies Mermaid themed 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is a Mermaid themed card which I have made from scratch... I took a piece of greeny teal card from Tattered Lace and cut it so it created a 7" x 5" landscape card and then scored it down the middle using my Hunydory Adorable Scoreboard. I then rounded the corners using a punch (again from Hunkydory). I have had these mermaid and clam shell dies for ages but hadn't used them and thought I better, so cut the two sizes of mermaids in black and white card several times and then the clam shell largest nested die so cut out in white and then the next one down in black. I coloured the white one in using Tim Holtz Distress inks and once I was happy with the result, stuck the black one on to it using a tape pen. I stuck the mermaids in each corner and then the clam shell in the centre of the card this time with PVA glue. The mermaid topper is from the Sea of Bubbles stamp set from Molly Harrison that Crafte...

Mermaid Canvas with textured background and Congratulations Bird A6 card Hi Craft addicts! As I have missed a couple of days posting anything, I thought I would show you two totally different things I have made for the 100 Day Challenge.... Mermaid stamp on 4" Canvas..  How I decorated the canvas:- I took a 4" white stretched canvas (Student Art) and covered it several times with Blue, Green and black Radiance Paints from Stamps Away - must admit I have had them for ages and didn't think they would be usable but had no trouble with them at all! Whilst the paint was still wait, I added more to the canvas, this time with the straight edge of a paintbrush raising it slightly to give it some texture. I then left it to dry overnight. I had one of these Mermaids already cut out (from Time For Tea stamp set) and thought it would go really well with it and attached it to the canvas with the relevant glue. I haven't added any cord or ribbon but will at a lat...

Mermaids and underwater themed C6 gatefold card -  Day 198 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's card for my challenge (day 198 - goodness 200 is nearly here)...and I have made this Mermaids underwater themed C6 gatefold card. How I made this card:- This is a gatefold card, so I cut 2 pieces of white card slightly smaller than each of the front panels, making sure they fitted. I had bought some Creativ Bleeding Tissue which I had seen on Create and Craft and wanted to try it out, so I tore various strips (different shades of blue), wet the panels (one at a time) and placed the strips on top of them, brushed over them and then removed them to see what effect you can get from them - I also used a brush to blend the colours slightly. (I am going to do a rainbow version soon and will see what I can make of it! I then glued the panels on to the front of the card using PVA glue and left them to dry a bit. I used the Mermaid dies from the Moonstone set from ...

Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging - hand coloured background - Day 149 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Well it is raining here at the moment and very very stuffy and so this Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging is something to cheer me up! How I made this project:- I first of all covered the front of this shaped MDF plaque with some white card using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue and trimmed it to fit. I then used Tattered Angels Colour Wash Paints to create the sea background (mainly blues, blacks and a hint of white). When it was dry, I added a bit of water to a brush and took some of the colour away to give it some dimension. I also added a hint of white to try and give the impression of waves. I then stamped the Mermaids, seaweed and turtles on to it using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then cut out one Cloud die (from Memory Box) in grey paper and added some shading to it using a darker alcohol marker and placed it on the left hand side. I stamped out the tree stump o...

You're Turtley Awesome Mermaids and underwater scene C6 card - Day 93 of my 365 Day Challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is a result of trying out blending colours on a textured background and I must say I was really pleased with this Under the Sea C6 card turned out. How I made this card:- I first of all cut a piece of textured paper from the Man Made collection from Craftwork Cards which measures 95x135mm approximately. I then used various blues shades of ink (Tim Holtz Distress and Altenew), blending them in to make an underwater effect - making it darker towards the bottom. The ridged texture makes it great for making it look like ripples. I added some yellow Tim Holtz Distress ink (Fossilised Amber) towards the top as I wanted to make it look as if the sun was shining through the waves and some True Graphite Altenew ink at the bottom. I used the Castle part of the Noble Knights and Naughty Dragons For The love of Masks to make it look like there was a...
