Let's have an adventure.... 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card is a Pirates themed general card which is great fun to make for my 365 day challenge. I cut a piece of white card to measure about 4" x 6" and used a circle stencil in the top right hand side and coloured through it with the remains of Gina K Obsidian Black ink on my blender brush. I continued doing it until I was happy with how it looked and put it to one side. I then used a blending brush and blue dye based inks to colour the rest of the card to look like sky/sea and then used a corner punch to create a bit of interest. I stuck it to a piece of black card and trimmed it so only the corner bits showed through and then edged it with a black alcohol marker. For the main topper, I first of all placed the two pirates on to a piece of card where I wanted them to go and then picked them up on my stamping platform and used Gina K Obsidian Black ink a couple of times to get a good impression. I then stamped the two pira...

The Sky's the Limit - skylines around the world in silhouette DL card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is using just stamps and Distress Oxide inks. I used a panel of white stamping card and coloured it in using a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks such as Broken China, Salty Ocean and Speckled Egg and tried to give it an ombre effect. Once I was happy with it, I spritzed it with some water and dabbed some of it off with some kitchen roll to make them look like clouds. I then took the Skyline Silhouette rubber stamp - it is called Bucket List from Creative Expressions and inked it with Gina K Obsidian black ink. Rather than stamping it downwards, I placed the background onto my desk and pressed the stamp directly on to it, I know it doesn't give a totally crisp image this way but I quite like the effect. I then repeated the process with the Sky's the Limit sentiment stamp. Finally, I fussy cut around it giving it a wavy edge and stuck it to the front of a DL white card using PVA glue. So if you th...

Hey Good looking... abstract owl 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is a fun owl themed card.... I wanted to try swapping the stamping and creating the background around so I stamped the Owl and the sentiment from a Creative Expressions set on to some white stamping card using Gina K Obsidian black ink. I then used the Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders (they come in a variety of colours and what is so great is that you never really know what the result is going to be once you add some water to them). I used some kitchen roll to remove the excess water from it which also softened the colours too. Once it was dry I used the Spellbinders Petite Picot edge rectangle die and cut the image out and attached it to a slightly larger panel of dark green cardstock and glued the whole panel on to the front of a 7" x 5" white card towards the top of the card leaving a space at the bottom (about 3/4"). Finally I added five green Nuvo Drops (from Tonic Studios) to the bottom of the...

With love... Beetle and flowers 5in square card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Well today's latest handmade card is a different one for me and I really love this set of stamps from Creative Expressions. I used the Jewelled Beetle stamp and stamped it directly on to the front of a 5" white card, the corners of which I had rounded using my Prism (Hunkydory) punch. I used Gina K Obsidian Black ink to do this and also a stamping platform as I needed to stamp it a couple of  times to get a clean image. I then scored the right hand side 5 times at 1/2cm intervals. As I couldn't used water colour paints or alcohol markers on the card, I used two shades of green and purple Stabilo coloured pencils to colour it in. I then used a distress ink to stamp the floral spray in the top left hand corner and used a paint brush to blend it slightly. The With Love sentiment is from a Tattered Lace set and I used the Obsidian Black ink to stamp it out and then coloured it with the same green pencils.  The actual stamp is a bit bigger tha...

Happy Birthday abstract flower blue, cream and white card

Image
Happy Birthday abstract flower blue, cream and white card Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is a plain but I think striking Birthday card which I have made using some dies and a sentiment stamped on matching card... How I made this card:- I had cut out the main background layer, frame and insert from the Love Conquers All die set (from The Paper Boutique range from Creative Crafting World) in cream and ivory card. I then glued them both together using PVA glue making sure that they aligned properly. I then cut out the middle square (again from the same set) in a blue card and stuck that to the middle of the main background layer. For the flower, I used one of the die sets in their Floral Embellishments pack and cut that out in the same blue and the background layer in the lighter ivory and again glued them together with PVA glue. I then stuck the whole thing on to the front of an A5 white card on the left hand side as I wanted the sentiment to fill the right hand side...

Congratulations! Champagne bottles and glasses 7x5in cream card Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card is one I have created using various dies, stamps and an old Daisy print paper from Craftwork Cards... How I made this card:- I first  of all cut out the Tattered Lace Champagne bottle and glasses die out in white card and coloured the bottle part in using a couple of green Alcohol markers, trying to give them a bit of shape by using darker colours toward the edges and underneath the neck. I coloured the foil parts of the bottles and the bucket using a beige colour alcohol marker and the champagne/prosecco in a yellowy colour... I then used one of the larger torn edge rectangle dies from Tattered Lace to cut out a piece of the green and white daisy patterned paper (I think it is from an old pad from Craftwork Cards) and edged it with a black alcohol marker. I curled the bottom left hand corner a bit and then attached it to the front of a 7" x 5" cr...

Hip Hip Horray Dragonfly Happy Birthday card using alcohol inks

Image
Hip Hip Horray Dragonfly Happy Birthday card using alcohol inks Hi Craft addicts! Well, I have been playing with alcohol inks again to create a background and decided to use it to make this Dragonfly themed Birthday card.... How I made this card:- I used Yupo paper (the translucent version) from Ranger and added a variety of alcohol inks, again from Ranger, to it (just dropping it on and seeing the results). When it was totally dry, I used the Dragonfly Square die from Sweet Dixie and cut it out. I I then stuck it on to a piece of white card using Pinflair Glue-it glue and cut around it leaving a very narrow border. I also used a black alcohol marker to edge it. I decided to use the Creative Expressions Modern Classic sentiments set (designed by Lisa Horton) and stamped the Hip Hip Hooray in each corner (it was only afterwards that I realised I had slipped doing one). I used Black Gina K Amalgam ink to stamp them and then again to stamp the Happy Birthday on to some whi...
