MDF Butterfly decorated with Acrylic paints -  Day 261 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I have been playing with Acrylic paints and MDF shapes and this is one of my first attempts which I had great fun making! How I made this fun project:- I first of all cleaned the surface of the MDF Butterfly - am not sure where it is from but it could either be Dreamees or Ali Reeve's Clever Cuts. I decided to do a "dirty pour" which is where you add all the colours you want into a pot and add it directly to the project. I therefore added the main colour first - which in this case is black Folk Art acrylic paints (these are good as they already have been mixed with a pouring medium to make them easier to pour) into a plastic pot and then added various amounts of Yellow, Blue, Green and a bit of white until I was happy with the colour mix. Couple dancing in a picture frame with ribbon  -  Day 256 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I have made this home decor project for day 256 of my 365 day challenge using a Tim Holtz picture Frame, a Tattered Lace die and some Mirri card. How I made this project:- I first  of all painted the front part of the Tim Holtz picture frame using black Gesso paint and left it it to dry. I then coated it again. I then cut out the couple dancing (timely as Strictly starts properly next week) in black card (Lynda Chapman's) and attached it to some starry holographic Mirri Card from Hunkydory using a PVA glue. I trimmed it so it measured 50x95mm approximately and stuck that on to some slate grey (not sure the real colour's name) Mirri card. Before I glued the frame to the backing piece, I glued the black and white striped paper (again from Hunkydory) on to it and trimmed it to fit.  I then stuck the whole topper on to the back using foam pads so it sta...

Just Because MDF wooden butterfly (black) -  Day 15 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's challenge is an MDF wooden butterfly that I have decorated with butterflies from Altenew. How I made this projects:- I first of all covered both sides of this large butterfly (which I either got from Dreamees or Clever Cut) in Black Gesso (I used Pebeo this time but know that there are many other brands available. I repeated this a couple of times (letting each layer dry before adding the next). I used a anti-static pad over it to reduce grease marks etc and then inked up the Butterfly stamp (from Altenew) once and then used some Papermania's Seafoam White embossing powder and used a heat gun to emboss it. I repeated this process several times to cover it. I thought it might be interesting to use a sentiment as the body of the butterfly so added the Just Because sentiment using the same process. Steampunk Owl mini pallet art wall hanging Hi Craft Addicts! This was really enjoyable to make as it is slightly different from the cards I usually do!  How I made this wall hanging:- The background on which the owl has been placed has been made using a "feather" die-cut as a stencil which I coloured through using "Pinks, Blues and Yellows" distress/dye based inks - Tim Holtz and Generation INX mainly... Whilst that was drying, I then cut out all of the elements - they are all dies from Tattered Lace (Owl, cogs and hats) using Silver Mirri card. I then coloured them in using "Pink, Green, and Blue" shades of alcohol markers - Spectrum Noir, Tonic Nuvo or Promarkers are great for this. I allowed these to dry overnight before handling them again as they are very slippy straight away. Chalkboard MDF pallet 2017 calendar -  Day 303 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's challenge is slightly different in that it is an MDF pallet art wall hanging which I have made into a pretty 2017 calendar. How I made this wall hanging:- The wall hanging itself is made from the Stamps Away "Mini pallet art" kit - I used 6 of the MDF strips and glued them together - to keep the stuck together, I glued two at a time and allowed them to adhere properly. Once that was done, I painted both the front and the back using "White" Pebeo acrylic Gesso paint. I gave it a couple of coats and allowed it to dry in between them. I then added the two additional struts to the back using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue - this really does strengthen the whole thing and makes it look better too (in my opinion anyway). Using some Collall All Purpose glue I attached the "Floral" background paper which is from the "Mid Summer Mornings" 8...

Purple textured feel small heart wallhanging or fridge magnet -  day 260 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Today's challenge is a small wall hanging that can be used as a fridge magnet too! To make this you need to do the following:- First of all take a MDF heart (this one measures 95mm approx) and cover it in "Purple" textured paint - I like this one as it gives a "rough feel" to the heart. I repeated that on the reverse side and let them both dry. I then cut out the "Melded heart" die from Tattered Lace in white cardstock I glued it to the heart just letting the bottom bits hang over the edge I wanted a bit of colour so added a few "Ripened Pumpkin" Gloss Nuvo drops to the centres of the flowers. Finally I added some black cord to it but you could also added a bit of magnetic strip to the reverse to make it into a fridge magnet instead! Leopard on a branch small wall hanging -  day 247 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft addicts Pollyanna Pickering's beautiful artwork features once again in this project for day 247 of my 366 day challenge. How to make this wall hanging... I first of all took a small MDF "Plaque" (it measures 105x90mm ) and painted it on both sides using the "Chocolate Bronze" Cosmic Shimmer Metallic Guilding polish. it gives a really great textured feel to the MDF Whilst waiting for it to dry, I cut two pieces of the "animal print" backing paper I had left over from the "Walk in the Wild" Card kit to fit (95x85mm) and once it was dry glued them both to each side. I then took two of the "Leopard" image from the accompanying "Walk in the Wild" paper popper pad and cut around the image so that it looked like a banner.
