Celebrate! Watercolour sea scene hand painted 7x5in card

Celebrate! Watercolour sea scene hand painted
7x5in card

Hi Craft addicts!

I am really trying to learn how to watercolour (with a varying degree of success) but thought I would use this scene I painted to make this Celebrate card......

How I made this card:-

  • I had this shaped oval left over from a previous project, and thought that I would use it to create the scene and used pinks, oranges, yellows, reds and blues watercolour paints (any will do, but I used the ones in the Watercolour Wheel that Toni Darroch's Stamps by Me sold some time ago.
  • When I was fairly happy with it, I let it dry naturally and then edged it with a bright blue alcohol marker.
  • I wanted to add some items to it, so used the bird and yacht stamps from the Lighthouse Harbour set For the Love of Stamps range adding 3 birds and 2 ships to the scene using Black Gina K Amalgam ink. I realised that a part of the scene wasn't quite dry when I stamped it and so would make sure it was the next time I did it!
  • I then cut out a panel of blue card (I think this is from the Core Collection range from Create & Craft), and edged the corners of it using the Corner rounder from Hunkydory. The panel measures approx 4x6" if you need to know...
  • I attached the topper to the centre of it using Collal All Purpose Glue (please make sure you don't use too much as I did and it leaked out of the sides and so had to do it again).
  • I then rounded the corners of a 7" x 5" white card using the same tool and stuck the finished panel to the left hand side of the card.
  • I used the pennant stamp (from the sentiment collection by Creative Expressions, stamped it on to some matching blue card with Versamagic and sprinkled some True White embossing powder on to it and heat embossed it.
  • I then used the Celebrate sentiment and repeated the process - I must admit I wish more Companies would do them in this format as I quite like it when the words go downwards as they are really useful for DL cards etc.
  • I then added that to the right hand side of the card using foam pads.
  • Finally, I added some Pale Periwinkle Nuvo Jewel drops (which dry clear) and then some Caribbean Ocean Crystal drops to add a bit of contrast.
