Seems like a purrfect time to say... black cats on checked background 7x5in card
Well it is Throwback Thursday and for today's post, I have made this black cat themed card using stamps from Hunkydory and Simon Hurley (Ranger) and dies from Tattered Lace and Spellbinders...
How I made this card:-
- I saw a video on You Tube some time ago showing the technique to make the check background and I decided to try it... so I first of all I took a piece of white stamping card and trimmed it so that it measured 5" x 4" (approx), turned it over and divided it into 4 equal parts using a ruler and pencil - it doesn't matter that you can see this as it on the back of it.
- I took the Classic Flannel rubber stamp (from Simon Hurley/Ranger) and inked part of it with Over The Moon dye ink again from Simon Hurley. I then placed one quarter of the card over it, placed a scratch piece of paper over it and burnished it.
- I repeated the process in the opposite corner with the same ink and then used Over Zealous (green) shade for the other corners.
- I cut the whole panel into 4 and stuck them onto a larger piece of black card leaving a narrow space between them.
- I then stuck some medium width red liner tape along the middle of it, removed the backing and placed some green foil over it and burnished it so that all of the tape was covered.
- I stuck the whole backing layer on to the front of a 7" x 5" white card using either Collall All Purpose Glue or a PVA glue.
- I cut out the ornate panel (from a Spellbinders die) in black card and stuck that to the centre of the card using PVA glue.
- I also used the same coloured inks (Green and Yellow) to add some on to the rubber stamp and again placed a piece of white card on top of it so that it mirrored the background. I then cut the oval panel out from it (it is a Tattered Lace die).
- I had the Cat silhouette stamps set from For The Love of Stamps (Hunkydory) and decided to add the two sitting cats on either side of the panel, using Black Gina K Amalgam ink and then used the pawprint to add some detail to the panel and the card itself.
- Finally, I used a white Gel pen to add some fur to the cat on the left.
