Background papers and how to transform them into printable formats.....
Hi Craft addicts!
Well, it is Technique Tuesday and so I thought, for a change from cards etc, I would try and show how I created a design on Yupo paper using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons and Creative Expressions Pixie Powders and then transformed them into my own printable papers...
How I made them-
- For the Blue flower design, I first of all added some dark blue (Blueprint Sketch Tim Holtz Distress Crayons) to a 7" x 5" panel of Transparent Yupo paper and blended them one at a time to a flower shape.
- I then added some paler blue crayons (such as Tumbled Glass) to the spaces and again blended them in - I use my fingers first of all and then a paintbrush with a hint of water to do this...
- I also added a small amount of green (Mowed Lawn) to various parts of the design.
- Once I was happy with the design, I then let it dry and took a picture of it using my phone and sent it to my Dropbox account.
- I then opened My Craft Studio Elite and brought the file onto the main working space. Depending on how big your file size is (and mine was big). I clicked on it and then dragged it to the top left hand corner, reducing it all the time until I was happy.
- I then clicked on the Tile button and dragged the image across and down the page until it filled it.
- I saved it to my computer and printed it out and there you are a printable background paper from one design (and with MCS you can change the hue, saturation and much more)...
- For the Pink version, I this time used Creative Expressions Pixie Powders, spread them over some white Yupo paper and spritzed them with water until I was happy with the design - the gold has a slightly textured feel to it).
- I then took it into MCS Elite and repeated the same stages as above - but this time I changed the hue before I printed it to see how it turned out (and didn't tile it).
- Tim Holtz Distress Crayons
- Yupo paper - white and transparent
- Creative Expressions Pixie Powder
- MCS Elite software programme but you can use others
- Pro paper (from Create & Craft)
