Let's Celebrate... Butterfly on tree bark background A6 card

Hi Craft addicts!

I really enjoyed making this card as it combines backgrounds I have created myself using Alcohol inks or Tim Holtz Distress Crayons with stamps and dies...


How I made this card-
  • I had coloured a piece of card using bright coloured Alcohol inks (or watercolours) and decided that I would use it to make one of the Butterflies in the Butterfly Embellishment Die set from The Paper Boutique (Creative Crafting World) and so cut out the body/wings in it and then the Antennae and mat layer in black card and stuck them together using PVA Glue.
  • I then added some Versamark sticky ink to it and heat embossed it with Clear embossing powder to give it both a sheen and more stability.
  • I had also coloured a piece of white card with brown shades of Tim Holtz Distress Crayons and thought that if I stamped the tree rings/bark image (from the Back to Nature Backgrounds For The Love of Stamps set) over it it would look exactly like bark/tree rings...I used Gina K Black Amalgam ink to do this -  I really liked the effect it created and will do more like it soon!
  • I edged it with a black alcohol  marker to make it stand out.
  • I cut a strip of brown paper approx 1.5" high (from Hunkydory's Colour Families Brown pad and stuck it to the centre of an A6 White card using PVA glue.
  • I then attached the bark/tree topper to the centre of that and then stuck the butterfly on top (at an angle to make it a bit more interesting).
  • Finally, I stamped the Let's Celebrate! sentiment (from the Sweet Sentiments For The Love of Stamps range) in the bottom right hand corner again using Black Gina K Amalgam ink.

  Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is this one made totally from scratch. I used the largest circle (about 4") Petit Picot edge die from Spellbinders and cut out two pieces of card - the front is Paper Dienamic Metallink A4 card and the back part is Sheena Douglass A4 white willow card. I scored the back part about 3/4" towards the top and married the two pieces together and added some red liner tape, removed the carrier sheet and stuck them to each other. The black frame is cut out of Lynda Chapman's Black card using the Inverted Scallop die from Crafter's Companion Gemini collection and I stuck it to the front of the card using a dotty pen as it allows the glue to only go on places it needs to. Congrats... square card - 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is this Congratulations stamp and some patterned paper. I must admit i can't remember who produced this patterned paper but think it is Paper Boutique from Creative Crafting World.. I rounded the corners of a 5" white square card and thought I would use it as a tent fold (that is with the fold at the top). I then cut out a piece of this foliage patterned paper so that there was a narrow border left when I placed it on the front of the card. Instead of adding a layer of black card behind it, I edged it with a Black alcohol marker and stuck it on using a tape runner pen - so many companies now do them or you could used  a light layer of PVA glue. I then cut a narrow panel (about 2") of the same paper so that it fitted the card and then stuck it to a slightly wider panel of Lynda Chapman's Black cardstock and stuck that to the card slightly left of the card front. There's Gnome one quite like you 7x5 inch card - 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is a fun one using a mix of dies and stamps.. I first of all stamped out the Forest Gnome stamp from Francoise Reads collection by Woodware Stamps (part of the Creative Expressions company) using Gina K Obsidian Black ink. I coloured it in using Crafter's Companion Spectrum Noir Triblenders and cut each element out as I decided I wanted to use them separately to make up my design. I then cut out the Cracks and Pots dies from Carnation Crafts in white watercolour card and again coloured them in using a variety of the Triblenders until I was happy with the blending. I coloured a small panel of white stamping card (approximately 5" x 4") with Tim Holtz Salty Ocean Distress Oxide for the sky and then a green ink from Simon Hurley - both from Ranger.
