Congratulations... flowers on flowers using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons.. A6 card

Hi Craft addicts!

I really love the effects the Tim Holtz Distress Crayons create and so thought I would make a card using just the yellow and orange pens in the collection.

How I made this card:-

  • I first of all used the Mustard Seed Crayon to add some "splodges" to a panel of Yupo (white) and then used my finger to blend them in (one at a time as the crayons dry quickly).
  • I then added some Spiced Marmalade crayon on top of them and again blended them in.
  • I also added some Twisted Citron in between the flowers and again blended them - I also used a paintbrush with some water to "smooth" the flowers and background out.
  • I  cut the panel to about 4" x 3" as I wanted to put it on the front of an A6 white card.
  • I placed a flower stencil (am not sure who made it) over it and, using a sponge dauber added some Black ink - I didn't know what effect it would create and I was pleasantly surprised with how they turned out.
  • I then stamped out the Congratulations sentiment on to some vellum, using Gina K Black Amalgam ink and then added Clear embossing powder, heat setting it with my heat gun - again I liked the effect!
  • I cut it out using a wavy pattern and attached it to the panel at an angle (sticking it to the back with tape).
  • Before adding it to the card, I repeated the flower technique to the front of the card with the same crayons.
  • I added some foam tape to the back and placed the panel in the centre of the card.
  • Finally, I used Black Nuvo drops to add some more dimension to the card.
