Be Happy - Flowers, butterflies on ornate background square card - Day 221 of my 365 day challenge
Hi Craft addicts!
Today's card (for day 221 of my 365 day challenge) is a more ornate one using Paper Boutique and Mel Heaton dies, along with Sweet Dixie and Rare Earth stamps.
To find out how I made it just read on!
- Using one of the lovely die backgrounds from Paper Boutique, I cut it out using Lynda Chapman's black card.
- I then measured the inside area and cut a piece of white stamping card to fit and stamped the flowers at the bottom of it using Versamark ink and heat set them with white embossing powder.
- I let it dry for a bit and then used a mix of Tim Holtz Distress Inks to ink over them using green for the grass, blues, pinks and purples for the sky.
- Again I left it to dry a bit and then used a sheet of kitchen roll to remove the excess ink so that they stood out more.
- I then attached it to the middle of the black layer using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue.
- I stamped out the smaller butterflies from Mel Heaton's Magnolia Memories 6" stamp collection using Versafine Onyx Black ink and quickly covered them in clear Embossing powder and heat set them.
- Once cool,I then coloured them in using a mix of alcohol markers and Zig Clean Color pens (not on the same butterfly of course) - I used pinks, blues, yellows, oranges etc and tried to blend them in to make them look iridescent.
- I attached the main topper in the middle of a 7" white card using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue and then added the 3 butterflies (which I had cut out with the co-ordinating dies) using the same glue.
- Finally, I stamped the Be Happy sentiment (from Rare Earth) on to a small piece of white stamping card with the Versafine Onyx Black ink, coloured bits of the letters with the same coloured pens as the butterflies and added it to the bottom left hand corner with some foam pads.
And there you are a card that is very easy to make and would make a lovely card to send to that special person.
