Roar!! Dinosaurs on hand coloured background -
Day 258 of my 366 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!

I have had great fun making this "Dinosaur" card - using HobbyArt stamps and "GenerationINX" ink pads.

  • I first of all coloured the background using "Generation INX" stmap pads - masking off where I wanted the sun to be after colouring in most of the cardstock (this was one of Hunkydory's shaped cards), I used "Orange - O01",  "Blue - A02", "Yellow - Y02".
  • I masked off the top half of the sun and coloured the bottom part just slightly to give the impression of a shadow.
  • I used two pieces of card (one torn slightly and the other straight edged) to create the horizon with "Tuxedo Black" Memento ink and also added a bit to the top and bottom of the image.
  • As they are water based inks, I left it to dry overnight and then stamped the small "Palm Trees" and "Grass" from the "Dinosaurs" stamp collection from HobbyArt in a couple of places (going over the edge with two of them).
  • I then stamped the two "Triceratops" on some stamping card (this is Craftwork Cards Stamping "Must Haves set" and also a single "Pterodactyl" and the "Roar!!" using the "Tuxedo Black" Memento ink pad. I then coloured them in using the "Brown - BR02" Generation INX pads with a paintbrush along with some "Green" Spectrum Noir Aqua Markers.and cut them all out and again left them to dry.
  • I then stamped one of the "Pterodactyl" on to the background and coloured that in using a "Brown" SN Aqua markers.
  • I also coloured the "Roar" in using the "Orange" and "Green" Generation INX pads.
For the Insert -
  • I cut out an insert (just slightly smaller than the card itself and stamped the "Dinosaur" and "Roar" on it and attached it to the inside of the card

To make the card up -
  • I glued the background on to a "Red" scalloped edged 6" square card using Collall All Purpose Glue.
  • I then stuck the "Pterodactyl" onto the top left hand corner so one of its' wings was hanging over the edge.
  • I used foam pads to attach the two "Dinosaurs" to the card - I think for the next one I make I am going to use the "Stamp to Acetate" trick to make a mirror image of it so they look as if they are facing each other.
  • Finally I added the "Roar!!" in the space between the flying dinosaurs using foam pads.
  • I also stamped "Roar" on the back of the envelope so it all ties in together.

And there you are, a really fun "Dinosaur" themed card that can be ought here Don't forget you can visit The Handmade Crafts Shop anytime to see what else I have for sale or sign up to my monthly newsletter here
