You are a True Friend.... Wolf Card No. 6
You Are a True Friend....
Hi Craft Addicts!
And now card number 6 (you will be glad to know there are only 2 more left in this challenge!
So, for this one I thought I would go for something a bit different and try some new (well to me anyway) techniques - not sure they all succeeded but still it is good to know for next time!
I chose an 8" square card (with its' envelope), the round Wolf topper and "You are a true friend - the one who shines day and night" sentiment.
I cut a strip of the white and black patterned paper (the one that looks like snowflakes) approximately 14cm x 20cm and glued it to the card covering both front and back. I then used some "Greek key" We R Memory Keepers Washi tape to the edge on both sides so that it added another border. I then used some Memento Pistachio Ink (I have the dew drop pad) to "distress" the edges (This is the bit that i am not sure about) of both front and back and then shaped the corners with the We R Memory Keepers Scallop Chomper tool.
Whilst letting the edges dry, I attached the round topper to a circle of black card and then added that to a scalloped matt (I think it was a Spellbinders die) of Silver card which I thought looked like moonlight (yes I know!!) using some Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue as I needed it to stick immediately. I cut an oval shape out of black card using the Tonic Studios Oval Looking Glass die and attached the topper to it and placed it at a slight angle (so that the wolf was looking upwards) to the white card.
I thought it looked a bit "dark" so cut a flower shape from the Tattered Lace Trio (Kathleen) die in bright blue and black card and stuck them together (not totally so you can give it some dimension when finished) and placed it towards the top of the card and then added the "stalk" which was cut from the "Arboreal Dream" die from Tonic Studios and coloured green using the DG3 alcohol marker from Crafter's Companion. I cut it into two and glued it to the card so that it linked both the "flower" shape and the topper itself.
Once that was glued down, I added the sentiment which I'd placed on another of the black Trio flower shapes (matching the main flower) and then on to a scalloped square topper (again Spellbinders) in Kraft card and using foam pads placed it on the bottom right hand corner.
I also found a dragonfly in black card (I think it could be a Sue Wilson die but might be wrong) and glued it to the top right hand corner so that the wings hung off the card. Using some Creative Expressions Finishing Touches self adhesive pearls (white and cream), I added them to the flower, base of the stalks and body of the dragonfly.
Phew! and now to the Insert, I used Serif Craft Artist Professional 2 once again to make it.
As the card had the shaped corners, I decided to make it A5 instead of the 8" I normally would have done. I used one of the Wolf images that are on Pollyanna Pickering's World Wildlife DVD (from Creative Crafting World) and some other embellishments from other suppliers, made it quite transparent so you can still write on it, saved it as a JPG, and took it into Microsoft Publisher, added a frame and printed it out and stuck it to the inside of the card.
I also wanted to make the envelope slightly more interesting so used a strip of the patterned paper along the centre of it (as it wasn't quite long enough, I cut it into 2, stuck it to both sides and added a small label shape (Tonic Studios die again) to cover the gap up.
I also had a corner cut out of white card (a Tattered Lace design) and coloured it with the DG3 green alcohol marker and glued it to the back flap of the envelope.
So, there you are Card number 6 - only 2 more to go! Once again, this can be bought with 50% of the sale going to the EWCP (Ethiopian Wolf Conservation Programme)
