Have a Magical Day Fairy and owl 6in easel card
Have a Magical Day Fairy and owl 6in easel card
I wanted to try my hand at stamping and colouring the image in using Distress Inks/Dye based inks and am quite pleased with how this turned out!
How I made this card:-
- I first of all cut out the mat layer from Tattered Lace's Engaging Elements Circle Frame set in white cardstock and then the foliage frame in green.
- I put the latter to one side and using one of the Fairies from Rare Earth's Pixie Forest A4 stamp set, I stamped it out using Obsidian Gina K Amalgam ink and left it to dry for a bit.
- Using Tim Holtz's Bundled Sage and Evergreen Bough Distress inks, I squished a bit onto a glass mat and then using a waterbrush coloured her dress in trying to blend them in so there was dark and light areas.
- I then used Salty Ocean and Broken China, repeated the above process to colour the wings in.
- I used Tea Dye and Rusty Hinge for her hair. Once it was all done, I let it dry a bit and then placed the foliage frame on to the mat layer, making sure it was in the right place - I did think of placing a dot on the back of both to give me an idea where they should go but didn't do it for this one!
- I thought it needed another layer as it would disappear on a white/cream card so cut out a slightly larger circle in the Green card and stuck the topper on to it using PVA glue.
- To make the card itself, I gently folded the front part of a 6" white pearlescent card in on itself to the fold and then using a score board, scored it in the inside.
- I then folded it back and stuck the circle topper on to it, making sure only the bottom part of it had the glue on it - I did add a small dot on either side of it so I knew where to put it.
- Finally, I stamped the owl and the Have a Magical Day images on to some white card again using the GinaK ink and then coloured the owl in with the same brown Distress inks.
- I cut it out with a wavy edge, placed it on to the inside of the card using foam pads so there was some height to it so it would stop the front part of the card from falling forward.
