Happy Birthday...Leaf in silhouette on hand coloured tag A6/A2 card

Happy Birthday...Leaf in silhouette on hand coloured tag A6/A2 card

Hi Craft addicts!

Nearly the Bank Holiday weekend and so I have made this quick and easy Birthday Card using a Stamps by Me die and some stamps (along with a hand painted tag)...

How I made this card:-
  • The base card is an A6 (A2 in the US) which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc....
  • I had coloured the tag (it is a medium sized cream one) using orange, yellow, green and red water colour paints and left it to dry.
  • Whilst that was happening, I cut a panel of blue card, 4.5" x 5.5" (from Create & Craft's Core Collection) to fit the front of the card and embossed it with the Skinny Woodgrain Embossing Folder from Creative Expressions.
  • When the tag was dry, I place the leafy foliage die from the latest Stamps by Me collection and cut it out in the centre. I will use the actual die cut in a later project as I wanted to use the "waste" cut.
  • I then cut a small piece of Black card and stuck it to the back of the tag using some PVA glue.
  • I used some fingerlift tape to attach the blue card to the front of an A6 (but it is A2 size in the US) - I think I would probably use a wet glue as well as it would have given me some wiggle time as I placed it down too soon!
  • Using some foam tape on the back of the tag, I placed it at a jaunty angle on the left side of the card, making sure the string was loose.
  • I then stamped out the Happy Birthday vertical sentiment (from Creative Expressions) - I do wish more Companies would produce words in this format especially for smaller cards...
  • I used Black Gina K Amalgam ink to stamp both the banner and the words and cut around the outside edge as it gave me an edge to guide me.
  • I then used a black alcohol marker to edge it and attached it to the right hand side of the card using a little PVA glue on the bottom of the tag and foam tape on the sentiment.
  • Finally, I added some Dawn Bibby self adhesive pearls to the foliage.
