Shimmery butterflies - Happy Birthday 7" card - Day 222 of my 366 day challenge
Shimmery butterflies - Happy Birthday 7" card -
Day 222 of my 366 day challenge
Hi Craft addicts!
Today's card is something slightly different insomuch that I had cut some butterflies out from silver mirror card and wanted to see what they looked like if I coloured them with alcohol markers!
HOW I MADE THE TOPPERS AND SENTIMENT
- So, I first of all took some "silver" mirri/mirror card and embossed it using the Xcut "Filigree Circle" folder. II then cut round the embossed part of the circle and coloured the "filigree" part using the "TB4" alcohol marker from Spectrum Noir.
- I then repeated the process with an A6 sheet of Mirri/Mirror card using the Xcut "Small dots" embossing folder, trimming it slightly and then coloured the edges with the same marker as above.
- For the "butterflies", I used the same mirri/mirror card and cut twIo out from the "Butterflies" collection from First Edition (Trimcraft) and coloured the larger one using the "TB4" alcohol marker and the slightly smaller one using "CT10". It really does leave a very subtle shine to them which i love.
- I then cut out the "Happy Birthday" sentiment in black card using one of the finer alphabet fonts in Brother ScanNCut's web app CANVAS, first of all typing out both words separately, then divided them and then moved them to form a vertical message rather than the usual horizontal and welded each. (They measure 11cm and 12cm respectively).
HOW TO MAKE UP THE CARD
- Once the colouring was dry, I cut the circle into 4 equal parts and glued them to each corner using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue.and added a "black" wavy peel off sticker strip to the bottom of each segment.
- i also used the peel off stickers to give the main panel a "frame" cutting the stickers to fit. I then added it to the centre of the card using very thin foam pads (Hunkydory ones are great).
- I took the "Happy Birthday" words and glued them to the card, aligning the "Happy" word with the edge of the top left segment and then the "Birthday" one to the bottom left hand segment.
- The "butterflies" were then added to either side of the panel and some "Caribbean Ocean" and "Golden Sunset" Nuvo crystal drops to each corner.
And there you are....a really lovely card which will be on my website shortly both as a card and in kit form. Don't forget you can visit The Handmade Crafts Shop anytime to see what else I have for sale.
