Happy Birthday flower tapestry 7" x 5" card

Happy Birthday 7" x 5" card - Wishing you the happiest of birthdays...

Hi Craft Addicts!

Well I had planned to do something different for the next blog, but I was trying out various ways of using the Happy Birthday Tapestry die from Tattered Lace (you can buy it here) and some of the black Adorable Scorable A4 cardstock from the Midnight Moments collection from Hunkydory.

I had cut the die out from white card but thought it would stand out more if I added a black version of it too (not easy to see in the photo), so I glued the two together offsetting the white one slightly to give it a slight shadow effect. 

When I came back to look at it, I thought it still needed some black card at the back to make it "pop" so glued it (using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue) to some (I use the cardstock from Creative Crafting World as it is just the right weight) and was going to then use a whole sheet of the A4 Adorable Scorable black card but changed my mind and cut a panel 16x12cm approx from the patterned end - I really like the gold and silver effect and I don't think it really matters that they are paw prints!.

After I had glued the panel on to the 7" x 5" card, I then thought it would look better if some of the things were highlighted so I used a red, yellow and orange Spectrum Noir Alcohol marker to make them stand out - obviously they could be any colour you like!

I then added some Nuvo Ebony black Crystal drops on each of the corner but looking back I would probably have used flat back gems instead as the card is "shiny" so the drops spread a bit.

For the inside, I didn't use an insert but stamped straight on to the card itself. I used the Inkydoodles heart shape from the "Take Flight" stamp set and then the "Wishing you the happiest of birthdays" stamp from the "Amazing sentiments" stamp set from Creative Expressions - you could of course do this on an insert and place it inside....

• Red, yellow and orange alcohol markers - I used Spectrum Noir but you can use Copics, Promarkers etc
• Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue

• Nuvo ebony black crystal drops
• Take Flight Stamp set from Inkydoodles 
• Amazing Sentiments stamp set from Creative Expressions - you can get them from all sorts of suppliers but Julia Watts from Creative Expressions sells them here
