Birthday Wishes...Floral spray 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is one using stamps and embossing powder. I first of all dusted a panel of white stamping card with an anti-static pad and then added Versamark to the Floral spray stamp from Ink Lily and rather than using a stamping platform, I placed it directly on to my desk and inked it and then placed the card on top of it, gently rubbing it all over so the ink was transferred. I then added some white embossing powder (so many Companies are now producing their own version but I have Cosmic Shimmer and Thirsty Brush amongst others). I heat set it, moving my heat gun over all of the image until I saw it had all melted. I decided to play with my Ink Lily Glimmer pens and so used the Summer collection to colour over the embossed image, spritzing them with water and used kitchen roll to dry them off - I like the effect as it gives a very subtle sparkle to the card though you can't see it well in the photo. I rou...

Happy Birthday - Owl be seeing you...7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is one uses stamps and dies from a variety of Companies.... I first of all stamped the Scribbly owl from Jane Gill's Woodware range on to some white stamping card using Gina K's Obsidian black ink.  I also added the Happy Birthday to you sentiment directly stamping it on to the topper. I then coloured it in using both Spectrum Noir Triblender markers (brown shades) along with some other colours for the eyes and flowers - you could of course colour it in using any media! I also used some of Tim Holtz's Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink on a glass mat, spritzed it with some water and then added an edge to the design. I used the largest of the Petit Picot edge Rectangle dies from Spellbinders (I really love this design) and cut it out and then trimmed it slightly to give a different effect to the border. I used a dotty pen (from Crafter's Companion) to attach it to the front of a 7" x 5" blac...

Happy Birthday - Slimline DL card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card is another one made from scratch. I first of all cut out the base card out of two pieces of blue Paper Dienamics Metallinks cardstock using the largest of the Nested Postage Stamps dies from Lisa Horton. I scored one of them about 3/4" from the top and added some red liner tape to the inside of the card, removed the backing and stuck the two together making sure they lined up properly. I then used the straight edged die from the same set and cut out a piece of white card but before taking it out of the die, used a blender brush to colour it using Salty Ocean Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink. I took it out of the die and attached it to the front of the card using a tape pen. I used the HAPPY and BIRTHDAY dies from Lisa Horton's recent collection and cut the mat layers out in Black and then the actual wording from some lighter Metallinks card and stuck them together. I attached them to the front of the card using foam pads. So if yo...

You're sweeter than honey... oval card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade (literally from scratch) is a bright and cheerful card using dies and stamps. I first of all used the largest of Spellbinders Petit Picot Edge Oval dies and cut out two pieces of white card, and keeping the second one within the die, I coloured it in using some pink/red inks. I then scored the second piece of card at the back with my Hunkydory's Adorable Scoreboard about 3/4" from the top (long side), added some red liner tape and attached them together making sure they married up ok. Using the same die, I then cut out a piece of dark teal card (from Paper Dienamics Metallinks range) and stuck it to the front of the card using a dotty tape pen (vertically). I then cut out one of the smaller ovals in the same range and again keeping it in the die, coloured it in using pinks and purples. I stamped the Honey jar (from Crafter's Companion's Nature Garden Bee-utiful collection) on to some white card using Gina K's Obsi...

Sending lots of love... Badger A6 card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card is a simple but effective A6 card using stamps and dies.... I cut out a piece of white stamping card and stamped the Sweet Dixie Badger image on to it using Gina K Obsidian Black ink. I used a mix of Stabilo FSC colouring pencils and alcohol markers to colour the animal and foliage in. For the grass and sky, I placed some Blue and Green Distress Oxide inks on to a glass mat, spritzed some water on them and used the inks as a paint. I then cut out a panel using the Petit Picot Rectangle die (middle size one) from Paper Dienmamics Metallink card stock and then trimmed the stamped image to fit inside it. I also edged the panel with a black alcohol marker. I had made the card myself using a Lisa Horton Rectangle stitched die.  I cut two pieces out, scored the back one about 3/4" down from the top, added some red liner tape, removed the backing and stuck it to the card. I then made sure the two pieces of card lined up p...

Bee Nice, Bee Honest, Bee Happy, Bee You card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card is one using some dies, stamps and some inks! I coloured a piece of white card using yellow, orange, red and pink Distress Oxide and Harmony inks (from Tim Holtz and Crafter's Companion) to make a sunrise (esque) background and spritzed it with some water. I then added some self adhesive paper to the back of a piece of Lynda Chapman's Black card and used the Sweet as Honeycomb Die from Crafter's Companion Nature's Garden Bee-youtiful collection to cut it out. Removing the backing sheet carefully, and taking out any waste bits left, I then stuck that to the background and cut around it. I used some foam pads to add it to the front of a top fold white 7" x 5" card trying to make it as central as possible. I then stamped out the Bee NIce sentiment directly on to the card using Gina K Obsidian Black ink. Finally I added some Glossy Highlights (or Glossy Accents) to the wings of the bees. So if you think this sounds...

Love is the real magic... dragonfly at sunrise 7x5in topfold card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card is a topfold card using dies, inks and stamps.... I first of all created the background using Creative Expressions Cosmic Shimmer Neon Polishes (pink, yellow and orange) watering them down so I could blend them in to create the sunrise effect. I cut out the dragonfly using the Dragonfly Lattice die from Stamps by Me and some of Lynda Chapman's black card and some self adhesive backing sheet (removing one layer of the backing sheet first). I then removed the remaining backing sheet and carefully placed it on top of the background and trimmed it so it fitted perfectly. I then placed it on to the front of a 7" x 5" white card (topfold) with some foam pads to give it some height. I had previously stamped out the Love is real magic sentiment which is from the Enchanted Heroes collection from Sheena Douglass on to some white card using Gina K's Obsidian Black ink, fussy cut around it and then stuck it on to a background th...

Happy Birthday - Flowers 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is another floral one using stamps, dies, alcohol markers and pencils. I used the largest of the Spellbinders' Petit Picot edge rectangle die and cut it out in Ivory Crafter's Companion 300gsm card which is the weight I prefer as it gives it some stability. I made sure that there were no waste bits left and then attached it to some Green Metallinks card from Paper Dienamics and trimmed it so there was only a narrow border. I used a dotty tape pen so that the glue only stays where the card is and there is no residue in the spaces. I then made the base card using the largest of Lisa Horton's rectangle dies, cut two pieces in white, scored one of them at the top (about 3/4" down) and added some red liner tape to the inside of the card, removed the backing and attached the two together. For the topper itself, I stamped the Peony flower image from Jane Gill's collection from Woodware Sta...

Happy Birthday - Fairies at sunrise...A6 card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's handmade card for my 365 day challenge is a fun small card made using just stamps and inks! The stamp I used to make the card is the Secret Garden Rubber Stamp from Creative Expressions and is part of their Designer Boutique range.  I wanted to use it but didn't want to use it on a large card, so inked about 60% of it (the bottom part) using Gina K Obsidian Black ink and rather that taking the stamp to the paper, I placed the paper on top of the stamp and pressed it to get the ink in place. Once I was happy with the result (and I must admit I did do it a couple of times), I added some Black Higgins ink to various places to make them stand out a bit more - such as the fairies. I then used some Hybrid inks (a mix of Ranger Distress Oxide and Tonic Nuvo) to colour in the background. I then fussy cut around the image and attached it to some of Lynda Chapman's Black card to frame it more and then fussy cut around that too. I used a t...
