Happy Birthday - owl on starry background A6 white linen card

Happy Birthday - owl on starry background A6 white linen card  Hi Craft addicts! Today's quick and easy card (well it is the weekend after all) is one I made using some inks, stamps and an Owl topper from Hunkdyory.. How I made this card:- I have had this owl topper (from Hunkydory's Stylish Silhouettes series) for some time and finally found a way to use it. I first of all cut out the rectangle background using Tattered Lace Lacy pin dot die (approx 2.5" x 2") with some white card. I took it out of the die and coloured it in using Salty Ocean, Broken China and Seedless Preserves Tim Holtz Distress Inks along with some Gina K Obsidian Amalgam ink at the top blending them in to create a sky scene.  Using Moonlight White Brilliance Archival ink, I "smooshed" it on to a Craft mat and spritzed some water on it, and with a paintbrush splattered some on to the topper and left it to dry. I used Pinflair Glue it Glue and attached the Owl to the ce...

Relax, Calm, Unwind Tryptych of 3 small MDF panels home decor.. Hi Craft addicts! Well, I have had this MDF panel for ages (to be honest so long that i can't remember who produced it and decided I would experiment with Glitz Craft pastes, a stencil and a sentiment stamp. How I made this project:- I first of all took out the 3 small panels from the main panel and painted the latter with Imagination Crafts Antique Pink paint. I left it to dry once and then gave it another coat. I then used a Black Gesso (there are many Companies who do this such as Pebeo, Pentart etc) to paint the three small panels, giving them a couple of coats to make sure both back and front were covered. Once they were all dry, I then used an anti static pad to clean any dust/moisture from one of them and stamped the Relax, Calm, Unwind sentiment on to it in the centre using Versamark sticky ink - I then added some white Embossing powder and heat set it. I took the two remaining panels and pla...

Have a Magical Day Fairy and owl 6in easel card

Have a Magical Day Fairy and owl 6in easel card Hi Craft addicts! I wanted to try my hand at stamping and colouring the image in using Distress Inks/Dye based inks and am quite pleased with how this turned out! How I made this card:- I first of all cut out the mat layer from Tattered Lace's Engaging Elements Circle Frame set in white cardstock and then the foliage frame in green. I put the latter to one side and using one of the Fairies from Rare Earth's Pixie Forest A4 stamp set, I stamped it out using Obsidian Gina K Amalgam ink and left it to dry for a bit. Using Tim Holtz's Bundled  Sage and Evergreen Bough Distress inks, I squished a bit onto a glass mat and then using a waterbrush coloured her dress in trying to blend them in so there was dark and light areas. I then used Salty Ocean and Broken China, repeated the above process to colour the wings in. I used Tea Dye and Rusty Hinge for her hair. Once it was all done, I let it dry a bit and then pla...

Alice in Wonderland themed A6 Birthday card

Image
Alice in Wonderland themed A6 Birthday card Hi Craft Addicts! As some of you may know if you read my blog regularly (and I hope you do!), I was offered the chance to use some of Hunkydory's fantastic products and write about them here.... So, today's card is one I have made from the  Once Upon a Twilight   Wonderland collection. It is really simple to make and I hope you will try it too! How I made this card:- I never quite know what to do with the A4 cardstock as sometimes I can't see how I can make a smaller card out of it, but one of the sheets included in the kit leant itself to cutting in half to make 2 A6 cards which I did - keeping the two bits of the design on opposite sides. I then took one of the smaller of the toppers (there are 4 larger and 4 smaller ones in the kit, including sentiments which is great value for just £2.99!)  I stuck it to some ivory/cream card using some PVA glue and trimmed it so there was a narrow border left around it. A...

Happy Birthday...Leaf in silhouette on hand coloured tag A6/A2 card Hi Craft addicts! Nearly the Bank Holiday weekend and so I have made this quick and easy Birthday Card using a Stamps by Me die and some stamps (along with a hand painted tag)... How I made this card:- The base card is an A6 (A2 in the US) which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc.... I had coloured the tag (it is a medium sized cream one) using orange, yellow, green and red water colour paints and left it to dry. Whilst that was happening, I cut a panel of blue card, 4.5" x 5.5" (from Create & Craft's Core Collection) to fit the front of the card and embossed it with the Skinny Woodgrain Embossing Folder from Creative Expressions. When the tag was dry, I place the leafy foliage die from the latest Stamps by Me collection and cut it out in the centre. I will use the actual die cut in a later project as I wanted to use the "waste" cut...

Thinking of you today.. Church in silhouette on hand coloured background A6/A2 card Hi Craft addicts! Well today's card is one I have made using a Die for the main focal point on a background I created myself using Distress Oxides. How I made this card:- The base card is an A6 (A2 in the US) which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc.... I used a pre cut A6 panel from Rare Earth and first of all used some Green Gossip inks coloured the hill at the bottom of the cardstock and left it to dry. Whilst that was happening, I cut out the Church silhouette (Serenity die set from Tattered Lace) in black card (Lynda Chapman's World of Paper) - I used both the main oval and the inside die together on a magnetic sheet so they didn't move... Once that was done, I stuck some yellow/gold card behind the windows to make it look as if there were lights on - I used a PVA glue as it grabs better than a wet one. I also used a Black alcoh...

Something Beautiful is on the horizon... safari scene 5" square card

Something Beautiful is on the horizon... safari scene 5" square card Hi Craft addicts! I have had the Stamps By Me Gossip inks for ages and thought I better use them and this is the result... How I made this card:- The base card is a 5" square one which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc.... I took 3 inks from the set (they don't have names on the bottles), and using the pipettes provided, put some orange, red and the darker red onto a palette. I then took a waterbrush and painted a piece of white stamping card (this is Hunkydory's Ink Me card but you could used watercolour card but I wanted a smooth surface) using the orange first and then the red and finally the darker red. The inks have a Mica in them so when you look at it when it is dry you can see a sheen to the card. Once it had dried, I added various images from the Go Wild stamp set from For The Love of Stamps using Gina K Black ink. I stamped the bi...

Just Because... green and white themed flower 6" square card. Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card is a very quick and easy one to make but looks very stylish (well I think so anyway!)... Hunkydory have such great products and this is just one of them... How I made this card:- The base card is a 6" square one which can be got from all sorts of companies such as Hunkydory, Paper Boutique etc.... The main image is a preprinted one from Hunkydory's Prism Colouring pads Volume 2.. there are several of each design so you can easily decoupage them - I have an idea as to what I might do next so watch this space! I decided that I wanted it to be just one colour and white, so coloured all the leaves in using Hunkydory's Prism Green alcohol markers - adding the lightest one first, then the darker one and then blending them together. I then took 2 pieces of Hunkydory's Green (striped on one side and plain on the reverse) Colour Family paper pa...

Have a Great Day! abstract flower on stencilled background 5"card Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card is a quick and easy, bright and cheerful 5" card that can be used for Birthdays and any other occasions too! How I made this card:- The card I used is a white 5" square card (could be from Hunkydory or Create & Craft) I first of all coloured a piece of white cardstock (Rare Earth or Hunkydory) using Simon Hurley dye ink pads (Clear Skies and Remember Me which are blue), Rare Earth's Pineapple Crush (Yellow), Raspberry Fizz (red) and Apricot Dream (orange) blending them in as much as possible using the Brick stencil from Thirsty Brush. I then used the same colours but only what was left on the daubers to colour some more white card. I cut out a scalloped edge square using the 3rd largest die in one of the Creative Expressions sets (this has a pin dot detail along the scallops) with the darker piece of card. Using the largest strai...
