Parsley, Sage , Rosemary and Thyme - herb garden wall plaque - Day 81 of my 366 day challenge
Parsley, Sage , Rosemary and Thyme - herb garden wall plaque -
Day 81 of my 366 day challenge
Hi Craft addicts!
This is only a work in progress as i wanted to test out some peel off stencils and thought that I would make a wall plaque to try them out.
So, first of all I used a rectangular MDF wall plaque (this one has precut holes at the top as I wanted to be able to hang it up). I covered it in a few coats of the NUVO Mushroom Acrylic paint - I felt I needed a few of them as the MDF seemed to be "treated" and had a smooth surface to it already.
I must admit I used my heat gun in between coats to speed things up as I wanted to do both sides. Once it was dry, I then varnished it with the new Zig Varnish marker (which is like a pen and you just spread it like a glue pen) - again giving it a couple of coats.
I had tried to stencil the words on first and then varnish it but as I used Distress Inks it just made it "bleed" so I added the words afterwards with the Herb Patio Paint Home and Garden reusable stencil set using the "Gathered Twig" Tim Holtz distress ink pad. It is great that the varnish and the paint gives it a slightly maroony colour. You can of course place them in any order and there are lots more herb names you can choose from!
I then cut out a couple of small flower pots using the "Pots and Vases" die set from Trimcraft and hand coloured them to give a "terracotta" feel using the Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and placed them on the plaque on either side using some Stix2 strip foam pads.
I also added some clear Sparkle to them to give it a bit of more dimension and used some white picture frame cord.
