Vintage style crate - my first attempt.. Day 30 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! As the old saying goes, and now for something completely different! I really need some more storage space for my craft items so thought rather than just covering an old cardboard box, I would attempt to use one of the kits that Stamps Away (Ali Reeve) sells and see how easy it was to make! Well this one is very simple (but have to admit I didn't notice I had one of the side panels on incorrectly until I had glued it - I definitely won't make that mistake again! (but as it happens it didn't really make a difference as I am the only one who would notice it (maybe I shouldn't have admitted it). So, first of all, I made sure that all the panels were clean and following the instructions glued each of them in turn. I then used a large rubber band to hold them in place until completely stuck. I then painted all sides with white gesso Acrylic paint a couple of times ...

I Love you - Love birds on branch 7" x 5"card -  Day 29 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft Addicts! So it is nearly the end of January and I have surprised myself by having continued with my 366 day challenge ! For this one, I have returned to the Love subject as there is still time to make (or buy) this card... So, I first of all selected the topper of 2 love birds sitting on a branch and matted it on to silver mirror card (you can buy them already cut into an A6 size now from Hunkydory) . I then wanted the image to stand out a bit more so I used some black and white Washi tape along the centre of the card and then used some red Ultra strong liner tape on either side of it and placed some TODO red foil on it - you then peel it off and you are left with a foiled strip. Using Stix2 foam pads , I then stuck the topper on to the card leaving more room at the bottom for my sentiment which I made using my Brother Scan n Cu t to make the design from their st...

Elephants in silhouette on Distress Ink background trio of cards - Day 28 of my 366 card challenge

Elephants in silhouette on Distress Ink background trio of cards -  Day 29 of my 366 card challenge Hi Craft addicts! For this post I am still looking at peel off stickers and how they can make really striking cards or can even be used for home decor. So, first of all, I painted a background scene using various Tim Holtz Distress ink pads - from yellows to purples onto good quality cardstock. What I like is that they all come out differently each time. Once they were dry, I chose the best place on the background and set the elephants in silhouette peel off stickers (which you can get from Craft Creations ) on to the card and cut round it. I then stuck them on to white cardstock and cut round them leaving a small border. Using a black Spectrum Noir alcohol marker I edged them so it looked as if I had added a black panel. I then glued them on to the 88x114mm cards ( Centura Pearl blue and lemon colour - but you can buy a variety of colours from...

Abstract flower peel-off - they do have their place today.. Day 27 of my 366 day challenge

Abstract flower peel-off - they do have their place today.. Day 27 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! So, for my latest blog, I thought I would make a stylish card using a peel off sticker flower - and I think I have succeeded.. So for this card I had a 7" x 5" tan coloured card from Hunkydory (in Adorable Scorable ) spare from one of their previous kits so thought the colour would go well with what I had in mind. I first of all placed the peel off (which I got from Craft Creations ) on to a pre-cut brown deckle edged panel (which I got from them too) and added a couple of the smaller flowers to add an extra interest. I then die-cut a scalloped fancy edged panel in white card and glued the flower on to it. Whilst that was drying, I used a scoring board to score some lines at regular intervals down the whole of the front of the card - I then scored the bottom of the half of the card in the remaining spaces. To separate the two , I added a patterned...

How digital crafting can be used - Day 25 of my 366 day challenge.. Hi Craft Addicts! So it is nearly coming up to the end of January - where has that time gone? Anyway, for this post, I thought I would show you how great digital crafting can be. For these three cards, I have used 2 different designs but all using the CRAFTSCAPES digikits that Daisytrail (Craft Artist Professional 2) have produced. You do need to have the software package CAP2, but for what it can do, the price is incredibly reasonable. You can buy all items through Daisy Trail here - there are literally hundreds of kits that you can mix and match to create brilliant projects. As it is a digital image you can layer things up that using shadows etc that actually look as if they are in 3D. They are also brilliant for mixed media projects and you can add as many (or few) embellishments you like. These are also watercolour images so it really creates that effect on your card..       ...

Fairy and flowers Large MDF tag shaped wall hanging - Day 24 of my 366 day challenge

Fairy and flowers Large MDF tag shaped wall hanging - Day 24 of my 366 day challenge Hi Craft Addicts! So, this is another wall hanging - hadn't quite realised how many I had actually made - they are all so much fun to do! So for this one I took a large tag MDF shape and painted it a couple of times with black Pebeo Acrylic Gesso paint. Once dry, I cut out a Tonic Studios Fairy die in white and glued it using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue. You could of course either paint it with chalkboard paint or use chalkboard paper so that you can use the space for messages. After it was dry, I made up some paper flowers and butterfly (from different companies) - for my next one, I am going to try and stamp some flowers out (such as the Honey Doo or Dreamees ) and use them. I then glued them around the tag using a hot glue gun. Once they were in place, I added some glue to the centres of them and added some glitter to them and allowed them to dry. I then added som...
