Hubble Bubble ... cauldron, cat and spider's web window card

Hi Craft addicts!

I thought I would try and write a post every other day with the theme of Halloween. I think I find it more fun to do than Gunpowder Plot (Guy Fawkes) as I really don't like the idea of the burning of his effigy.. anyway I digress which I think I am well used to.

Today's card is one that put on Instagram yesterday, and it is an arched C5 window aperture one which I have used to add the topper inside it.

How I made this card:-
  • I used a pre-cut deckle edged white hammered piece of card (approx 120x70mm) and first of all added a thin border around it using a Black fineliner pen.
  • I then added the Halloween themed peel off stickers to make a scene.
  • Masking the border off, I then coloured the background in using various shades of blue distress inks (Tim Holtz - Broken China, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers), not worrying too much if I went over the peel offs as I then used a piece of kitchen roll to clean them.
  • I added some Altenew dye based inks to add the ground - using Silver Stone, Industrial Diamond and Pure Graphite (the latter to add a bit of shadow to it.
  • I didn't want too many layers to the card, so I used a dark green alcohol marker and using the border as a guide, edged the topper to give the effect of another layer.
  • I coloured the front of the card using the same colour blue Distress inks and then, masking the inside of the card, coloured the window/door frames in a dark brown alcohol marker,
  • Finally, I stuck the topper inside the card so it showed through it.
And there you are, a quick and easy but fun Halloween card. If you do want to buy it then don't hesitate to get in touch - I also have various cards and gifts on my website - www.thehandmadecraftsshop.co.uk
