Fairy door wall hanging with chalkboard notice section

Fairy door wall hanging with chalk board notice section

Hi Craft Addicts!

This is a "story" of two halves - first of all the fairy door and then how I used it to make a chalkboard notice board wall hanging. So I will do this in two sections (the fairy door today and will post the noticeboard tomorrow)..

I used the Dreamees Fairy Door making kit which you can buy from their website here.(this makes 2 so is excellent value for money) - you get all the necessary bits including signposts, trees, toadstools etc.

Using Spectrum Noir alcohol markers (I find they cover the MDF really well) in three different shades of brown, I "painted" the larger of the doors in the darker brown on both sides a couple of times and then the smaller of the doors and the "struts) in the lighter shades of brown.

I also added some silver dots to the struts to make them look like nails and used some purple Nuvo Crystal drops as a door handle but of course you can used anything you like!

I tried to add a brick like effect on the larger door using the black Spectrum Noir marker by drawing some lines equally down the door and then added some vertical lines alternately to represent the bricks. You could also use some brick texture paper to cover the doors too.

Once this was done, I hand painted some Violets (and leaves) peel off stickers in various shades of purple, pink and green using both the Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and also for the first time the Iridescent Shimmering Watercolour paints (Set 3 Autumn sunrise) from Cosmic Shimmer and cut them out.

I wanted the door to be open and so placed the smaller of the 2 doors on the bigger one and marked lightly where I wanted it to be and then glued the flowers around the right hand section of the larger panel stopping where the door itself would be opening using Collall All purpose glue as it allowed for a bit of movability! .

I then glued the edge of the doorstep to the larger panel and allowed it to dry - once that was done, I decided how "open" I wanted the door to be and glued it to the larger panel and the doorstep - whilst it was drying I used a pen to keep it open. I then added more flowers and a pink butterfly (this is a Hunkydory topper) to it.

And there you are the first step in making this decoration/notice board. Tune in tomorrow for the next stage.....
