Best Wishes Owl paper cut A2 card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       I really love the effect these paper cuts dies create and so I hope you will find it interesting in how I made it as it is very simple to make... I created the sunrise background using a variety of Hybrid inks from Tim Holtz and Simon Hurley from Ranger - yellows, oranges and red, blending them in until I was happy with the effect and left it to dry properly. I edged it with a black alcohol marker. I used the Owl Best Wishes Creative Expressions Paper Cut die and cut it out in Lynda Chapman's black card and attached it to the background with glue. I left the Best Wishes "waste" for another project. I then added it to a white A2 Card (from Tonic Studios) using PVA glue. And there you are a very quick and easy card to make that looks as if you are a lot cleverer than you are! So if y ou think this sounds interesting then why not:- Follow us on Twitter       Like us on Facebook           Like us on Pin...

Enjoy every moment... dragonfly and flowers shaped card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card is one I made when playing with a non scored piece of card which measures 30cm. I first of all scored the piece of card (30cm x 15cm) at the 10cm mark using my Adorable Scoreboard by Hunkydory and folded it to form a card shape and rounded the corners with the Prism Punch (again from Hunkydory). I then used Gina K Obsidian Black ink to stamp out the Dragonfly Delight image directly on to the front of the card. I then stamped it and the sentiment Enjoy Every Moment out on to some white card as I wanted to decoupage the dragonfly on to the plain image. I coloured the dragonfly with some Prism Watercolour pencils and let it dry. I also used the pencils to colour in just the leaves of the main image and also let that dry. Once the dragonfly was dry I cut around it and stuck it on to the card using a tape pen on just the body so that the wings were free and then shaped them a bit. I then cut around the sentiment givin...

Trio of flower themed cards - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Well today's latest blog is about these three different cards I made using Lisa Horton Flowers.... I had created some backgrounds using a variety of products from Himi Silk Crayons to Tim Holtz Distress Crayons and thought they would make good flowers. I cut out the various flower shapes from the Shabby Florals die set from Lisa Horton and then cut out the stalks in green card. I really like this backing paper which Becky Seddon produced for her collection and thought it would make the flowers really stand out and so trimmed a couple of pieces to fit the cards used and stuck them to the card with a tape pen - I wouldn't use PVA glue as it would show through the paper. Two of the cards are small (4") cards and I used two different punches (from Kit n Caboodle and Prism from Hunkydory) to round the corners along and then scored the edges with my Prism Scoreboard with an A6 card too. For the A6 card, I used one of the larger blooms and a ...

You Gnome me so well... 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Well today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is a fun card with Gnomes as its' theme - easy to make and great for sending to a friend at this strange time... I stamped the three gnomes stamp (from Francoise Read's collection by Woodware Stamps) using Gina K Obsidian Black ink along with the sentiment You Gnome me so well which is in the same set. I coloured the Gnomes in with various Spectrum Noir Triblender markers trying to use the same colour in different parts of them to add a continuity. Once I was happy with them, I then used some Tim Holtz Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink to colour the sky in and some Simon Hurley green ink for the grass. I then trimmed it to about 5" x 3", rounded the corners with the Prism punch (from Hunkydory) and used a Black alcohol marker (chisel end) to colour the edges. I had previously created a background on some watercolour card with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide, Crafter' Companion Harmony and...

Hootally Owlsome geometric owl 7x5in card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! This card turned out better than I thought it would so hope you like it too! I first of all took a 7x5in white card and rounded the corners using the Prism punch from Hunkydory. I then stamped the geometric owl from Thirsty Brush using Gina K Obsidian Black ink on to some white stamping card. I coloured it in using a couple of Brown shades of Spectrum Noir Triblenders along with an orange shade for his eyes (it could of course be a girl but feel it is a male one). I felt it was quite stark so decided to stamp the leaves on either side of the Owl again using the same ink having used tape to mask him off. The stamp a panel one from Avago.  I removed the tape and then used Crackling Campfire Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink to colour the whole image, masking off the owl before hand - I deliberately made the leaves darker than the centre part of the panel as I thought it was a good effect. I also rounded the corners and edged it with some black alcohol markers. The Hootal...

Hi Craft addicts!       Today's latest handmade card for my 365 day challenge is one made using some dies and the waste outline for the sentiment! I first of all cut out a piece of Lynda Chapman's Black card and embossed it with the brick 3D embossing folder from Lisa Horton. I had coloured some watercolour card and used the Himi Silky Crayons to create a background and then cut out the Shabby flowers again from Lisa Horton. I glued two lots of the flowers (different sizes) using PVA glue and added a black dot (from another project to the centre of it. I also cut out a frame using the largest two dies from the Inverted Scalloped rectangle die set from Crafter's Companion in white card and then glued it to the black card and then trimmed it so that there was a very narrow border around it. I used PVA glue to attach the flower and stalk to the background, placing it so the flower was leaning to the left. I had previously cut out the Just for you sentiment in Bl...

With love... Beetle and flowers 5in square card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       Well today's latest handmade card is a different one for me and I really love this set of stamps from Creative Expressions. I used the Jewelled Beetle stamp and stamped it directly on to the front of a 5" white card, the corners of which I had rounded using my Prism (Hunkydory) punch. I used Gina K Obsidian Black ink to do this and also a stamping platform as I needed to stamp it a couple of  times to get a clean image. I then scored the right hand side 5 times at 1/2cm intervals. As I couldn't used water colour paints or alcohol markers on the card, I used two shades of green and purple Stabilo coloured pencils to colour it in. I then used a distress ink to stamp the floral spray in the top left hand corner and used a paint brush to blend it slightly. The With Love sentiment is from a Tattered Lace set and I used the Obsidian Black ink to stamp it out and then coloured it with the same green pencils.  The actual stamp is a bit bigger tha...

With Love... DL card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts!       I really enjoyed making this card and hope you will too! I first of all rounded the corners of a white DL card using the Prism (Hunkydory) punch. I then used  Dotty Design slimline die and cut out the largest panel in white card and used my guillotine to take off the edges so it looks like a postage stamp. I then used the 2 smaller panels and cut the middle size in purple card and the smaller one in white. I also rounded the corners of the middle panel and edged the larger of the panels with a black alcohol marker. I then mat and layered them all together and stuck them to the front of the DL card using PVA glue for all of them, having first of all scored the bottom of the panel about 10 times using my Hunkydory Scoreboard The little girl is a stamp and die set from Linnie Pink Designs called Avery, and I stamped it out on to white stamping card and then cut it out using the co-ordinating die. I used alcohol markers to colour it in try...

Bee Happy - Bees on hand coloured background DL card - 365 day challenge

Image
Hi Craft addicts! Today's latest handmade card is quite simple to make but is one that could be used for any occasion. I first of all created the background using a variety of Rainbow Coloured Tim Holtz Distress Crayons - you just add the crayon to some Yupo paper, using my finger to blend them in first of all and then a paintbrush to blend them further. I also find that they can rub off a bit so I used a piece of kitchen roll to get any excess off. The Bee topper is made from using both the outer and inner die from Lisa Horton's Slimline Bee-autiful Panel set which I cut out from Lynda Chapman's Black Card which I had first of all added to some of Wild Spider Self adhesive sheet to make it easier to stick on to the Yupo Paper. Once cut out, I removed the backing sheet and attached it to the background and trimmed it to leave a narrow border around it which I then rounded the corners with my Hunkydory Prism punch (definitely my most favourite effect at the moment!). I then ...
