For You - sea scene landscape hand coloured 7x5in card -  Day 151 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I am really enjoying trying to create landscapes using distress/dye based inks and was pleased with the way this turned out - though it is a bit annoying to find that I have splashed some water on it....anyway... How I made this card:- I first of all took an A6 piece of white stamping card and coloured the sky in leaving parts of it white to give the impression of clouds. I tried to make the top part of it darker than the rest by adding more ink. I then coloured the bottom two thirds of the card with green inks (Altenew and Tim Holtz), graduating the colour to make it darker at the bottom. I then decided where I wanted the sea to be and added some blue/green to a section of the again making it darker towards each side. Using two strips of paper, I masked off parts of the card and inked through it using True Graphite Altenew ink to create the land on either ...

Just Because - Multicoloured flower C6 card - Day 150 of my 365 day challenge

Just Because - Multicoloured flower C6 card -  Day 150 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Well it is day 150 of my challenge and I have made this flower themed card using new Altenew stamps and co-ordinating dies along with one of their sentiments - I really love the font of the Just Because as it is decorative but very legible! How I made this card! This is a white linen effect C6 card and so I first of all used a score board to embossed 4 lines on the right hand side (first of all doing them from the inside and then went over them again on the outside). I then stamped the larger of the flowers in the Folksy Florals stamp set from Altenew on to some white card - I dabbed some blue, purple and red inks directly on to the stamp as it is a solid image and then repeated the process with the smaller one, this time with Orange, Red and Yellow inks (from both Altenew and Tim Holtz). I used the Onyx Black Versafine ink to stamp the inside of the flower and then cu...

Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging - hand coloured background - Day 149 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! Well it is raining here at the moment and very very stuffy and so this Mermaid themed MDF wall hanging is something to cheer me up! How I made this project:- I first of all covered the front of this shaped MDF plaque with some white card using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue and trimmed it to fit. I then used Tattered Angels Colour Wash Paints to create the sea background (mainly blues, blacks and a hint of white). When it was dry, I added a bit of water to a brush and took some of the colour away to give it some dimension. I also added a hint of white to try and give the impression of waves. I then stamped the Mermaids, seaweed and turtles on to it using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I then cut out one Cloud die (from Memory Box) in grey paper and added some shading to it using a darker alcohol marker and placed it on the left hand side. I stamped out the tree stump o...

Sun Sea Sand - sunrise or sunset hand coloured square card - Day 148 of my 365 day challenge

Sun Sea Sand - sunrise or sunset hand coloured square card -  Day 148 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I have had great fun making this card and was quite pleased with how the sunrise/sunset turned out - still learning obviously but hopefully I am getting there! As it is a Bank Holiday here in the UK, this will be brief! How I made this card:- I used the Set Sail Mask and added a border to a 7in square card using blue Altenew Ink. I then cut a piece of white hammered card and added the fishes and anchors (the fish in blue and the anchor using Versafine Onyx Black ink) and edged in with a blue alcohol marker. I then coloured in the sunset scene using a half circle mask to leave a place where I wanted the sun to go and then coloured both the top and bottom of the panel with various shades of blue Tim Holtz Distress and Altenew inks - trying to give the impression of reflections in the bottom half. I then took two pieces of card and placed them at different ...

Happy birthday Chinese Lanterns hand coloured stamps C6 card for Day 147 of my 365 day challenge

Happy birthday Chinese Lanterns hand coloured stamps C6 card for Day 147 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I hope you are all having a great Bank Holiday (if it is where you are!) - I have made this bright and cheerful Birthday card for day 147 of my 365 day challenge! How I made this card:- I used a C6 white linen effect card and marked two lines at the top and bottom of it in pencil and then used some masking tape to protect the centre of the card and coloured the border using Cosmic Shimmer Clear Day and Indigo Mist Colour blending inks. They do lay really well but must admit they don't blend well with each other as they are too wet (but I might be doing it wrong of course!) I put that aside to dry and cut a strip of white stamping card which was slightly narrower than the centre part of the card and shorter than the length! I stamped the string using Tuxedo Black Memento ink at the top of the panel and then the various Chinese Lanterns from the Lovely Lan...

Flowers and leaves - 2 for the price of one - C6 card and CD sleeve - Day 145 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! As it is the Bank Holiday and I probably won't be doing a blog tomorrow, I thought I would write about these two projects which have both used stamping and colouring over embossed images. How I made these projects :-  Both projects have been decorated with the Floral Favourites For The Love of Stamps by Hunkydory using slightly different methods. Let your Dreams blossom C6 landscape card I first of all blended some blue, green, yellow and orange distress inks in stripes directly on to the top and bottom of the front of the card as I like the way the Linen effect gives it some texture. I then drew a line above/below the strips using a black alcohol marker. I measured a strip of white stamping card which was the same width as the card but was slightly narrower than the space in the middle of the card. I then coloured the whole panel with orange an...

Hello - Garden shed and sea scene - hand stamped and coloured 7x5in card - Day 144 of my 365 day challenge Hi Craft addicts! I am really pleased with the way the colouring of this card went, in fact, I really like this card and could quite easily be in a boxed frame to make a home decor project! How I made this card:- I took a piece of A6 white stamping card and divided it roughly into thirds and coloured the bottom 2/3rds with green dye based/distress inks - Tim Holtz and Altenew provides different shades to create the grass effect. I then coloured the top third with blue shades (again Tim Holtz and Altenew), trying to blend them in to create the sky. I added some green shade to the bottom part of the blue section to try and make it a bit more sea like. I cut out the Clouds in white card using Memory Box (Poppy Dies) and stuck them to the cloud part of the image, overlapping them in the middle where I knew the shed would go. I then added a narrow darker line just unde...

Thanks XOXO gift card (CD Sleeve) hand stamped with bling -  Day 143 of my 365 day challenge HI Craft addicts! I have had these recycled CD sleeves for some time and thought it was about time I put them to good use so have made this gift card using Altenew stamps, some embossing powder and some bling! How I made this project:- I first of all made up the CD sleeve (which I got from Eco-Crafts) by using some strong tape. I added some lines to create a border using a black alcohol marker. Altenew have brought out the Watercolour dots set of stamps and so I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks (various colours to create a rainbow effect) over the block stamp and placed a piece of white stamping card over it. After it had dried a bit, I then used the stripes and stars stamps and stamped over some of them using Onyx Black Versafine ink. I then cut it out to fit inside the frame and stuck it using a Tape pen. I used the label tag dies (2 different sizes) to cut out the large...
