Hearts wedding or Valentine's day present, card and gift box Part One
Hearts wedding or Valentine's Day present, gift box and greetings card - Part one...
Hi Craft Addicts!
Goodness it has been a few weeks since I last wrote on here - really must try harder! This post is showing how I made a stylish wedding gift including the gift box and wedding card which is relatively simple to make but does look really good.
Part One - the MDF Heart
First of all, I painted a MDF heart (approximately 8cm) in red which can be bought from Dreamees here using the DR3 Spectrum Noir Alcohol marker straight on to the MDF.
I waited for it to dry and then gave it another coat and repeated on the other side - I then painted the edge so that you couldn't see the MDF.
I then cut out 2 "Love" hearts in white (though it looks more cream in the pic) from the Tattered Lace Hearts set. if you haven't got these, I sell the die-cuts in white here (Black, Red and Kraft colours are also available and using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue I attached them to either side of the heart making sure that the hole in the heart wasn't covered and allowed them to dry.
I cut a length of red and white Baker's Twine, threaded it through both the die cut and hole and knotted it so that the heart can now hang.
I then used two coats of Modge Podge Matt varnish but you can also use Cosmic Shimmer's Matt, Glue, Seal and Glaze version too - they both do the job brilliantly.
I then added two drops of white (though it looks cream in the photo) Nuvo crystal drops on each side of the heart and let that dry.
And there you are - a stylish, inexpensive gift.
In my next post, I will be showing you how I made the gift box (using a Graphic 45 5" x 5" mixed media box.
