Thank You card - strawberry or heart? 6" square card
Thank you card - When a heart turns into a strawberry... 7" x 5" card
Hi Craft addicts!
Well it has been a few days now since the last blog and so I thought I better rectify that!
I have been busy making my daughter's birthday presents and card but now have time to write this... I also must admit that this card started out totally different but didn't like it so started again!
It all started with my having punched a heart out using an EK Success punch ages ago (I've made some decorations using this but more of them later) and after I'd used the Creative Expressions (Sue Wilson) Delicate Daisies (open and complete petals) in white and red, I noticed that they would make an interesting stalk for the heart...and so the strawberry came into being!
So, I first of glued the heart (having painted on some black "pips" using a Spectrum Noir alcohol marker) on to a serrated edged square (3" approx) layer of Centura Pearl cardstock and then added the open petal die cut shapes (in white) and then the red complete ones at a slightly different angle to make it stalk like!
I then die cut a black layer of card using the centre sections of the "Thank You" Sentiment die from Tonic Studios and glued the heart topper on to it - After cutting the topper out from the card, I chose a green 5" x 7" card that was in a Hunkydory Adorable Scorable pack some time ago and glued a band of black cardstock* just above the centre and once dry attached the topper to it leaving enough room for the sentiment.
This was stamped on white card using the "Just because" sentiment from Inky Doodles and I coloured in the band using a green alcohol marker from Spectrum Noir and then matted it on to a black layer. I used some Stix2 foam pads to raise it a bit and stuck it at a slightly jaunty angle under the topper.
I also used black Nuvo Crystal drops to add some detail to the corners of the topper and some of the new Red one (they are brilliant to use) to the spots on the sentiment. I am going to be working on the inside and reverse now as it does need something extra...
And there you are, what was a card that I wasn't totally happy with turned into one that I was quite pleased with. Previously it was a white 6" x 6" card and stamped a leaf pattern all round it but as you can see some of them look a bit odd so gave that up as an idea - but will do another version properly this time...
