Owl stationery - how to make a co-ordinating gift set

Hi Craft Addicts

Here is my latest idea (not new I know but I have put my own "spin" on it and as it is National Stationery Week I thought it would be an idea to keep to that particular theme!

So... I have taken a plain shorthand notebook (this is an 80 sheet), an A7 spiral bound notebook and a pencil and have added co-ordinating papers to make a cheap but stylish gift set - great for young and old alike (also it is quite unisex so would be good for anyone!

Owl stationery gift set Shorthand Notebook
First of all, I covered the front and back covers with background papers from the Craft Asylum "Into the Woods" 12" x 12" pack. I then have taken one of the die-cut topper with the hello banner matted on to some black cardstock (I used Creative Crafting World option) to make it stand out from the spotty background.

I then stuck it to the cover using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue (but Collall All Purpose Glue works just as well) as it gives you a bit of time to make sure it is in the right place. I then used one of the smaller owls matted once again on to some black card and then glued that on over it.

Pencil Holder section
Owl shorthand notebook with pencil and A7 notebookI cut a section of the spotty paper approximately 6 x 2.5cm and then matted it on to black card - it is good if you keep all your scraps for this type of thing! and then placed it near to the bottom of the notepad (checking that the pencil fits into it of course!

Pencil
I used a FSC environmentally friendly pencil that I had and covered it with the matching spotty paper using red tape (the extra sticky type) to stick it to the pencil.

A7 spiral bound notebook
Using the same spotty background paper, I covered both front and back and then used another of the owl die-cuts (this time the one with the two of them) matted on to black cardstock and placed it on to the front. I liked the Hello banner style sentiment in the pack so matted it again on to the black cardstock and glued it at a "jaunty" angle at the bottom.

And there you are Craft Addicts - a fun, cheap but stylish gift stationery set.
