Just Because Chrysanthemums and Tulips Shaped card

Image
Just  Because Chrysanthemums and Tulips Shaped card  Hi Craft addicts! I have had these shaped cards for ages and really had no idea what to do with them until I had this idea - using Thirsty Brush dies/stamps along with Hunkydory's Prism alcohol pens and a Just because sentiment... How I made this card:- I had some ink daubers with some ink left on them so decided to create this pastel background with what was left - I blended them in so they made new colours too! I decided to ink both the front part of the card along with the part of the inside that is showing. I then stamped out the large flower image (from the Chrysanthemum die and stamp set from Thirsty Brush on to some white stamping card using Gina K's Amalgam ink (so I can use both alcohol markers or watercolours) and coloured them in using Hunkydory's Prism Alcohol markers - I decided to make them bright and cheerful as I thought it would make it stand out more.  Once I was happy with the shading ...

Happy Birthday country scene white silhouette A6 card

Happy Birthday country scene white silhouette A6 card Hi Craft addicts! Today is Throwback Thursday, and rather than reproducing an older card, I thought I would make a card using products that came out some time ago! And here it is.. a Birthday card using Hunkydory's Stylish Silhouettes sets which I have had for ages but haven't got around to using them! How I made this card:- You need to release the pieces you need carefully as they are quite delicate and the "pips" come apart fairly easily... anyway, I decided to use the clouds, sun, scarecrow, tractor and one of the landscapes and placed them on to a piece of blue card I had left over (it measures approx 4" x 3". When I was happy with where I wanted them, I used a PVA glue (the Cosmic Shimmer mini bottle as it has a very fine nib) to add glue to all the pieces and stuck them on to it - you can use either side of them as one is a brighter white and the other a laser cut effect. I coloured a...

Enjoy the Journey...hot air balloons and hand painted background A6 card

Enjoy the Journey...hot air balloons and hand painted background A6 card Hi Craft addicts! Today's card is one I have made for "Watercolour Wednesday" - this time using stamps and a background created using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons... How I made this card:- I first of all used the back of an old A6 Deckle edged cream card as a background panel - as it has a linen effect, I thought it would create an interesting texture. I then used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Crayons (such as Reds,Yellows, Greens, Blue, Purples - ie Rainbow colours) to try and give the impression of a landscape at sunrise/sunset.  I blended each colour at a time using my finger until I was happy with them and then used a paintbrush to blend them further. I stuck the whole panel on to the front of an A6 White card using a PVA glue. I really like the Scenescape Icons stamp set from Pretty Quick so stamped the Hot Air Balloon out 3 times onto some white card using Gina K Amalgam ink. I...

Crazy Genius Two for Tuesday different handmade cards

Image
Crazy Genius Two for Tuesday different handmade cards Hi Craft addicts! I really love the stamps that Visible Image bring out and I thought I would try to make 2 different cards using the Crazy Genius set - but first of all I had to set aside my natural instinct not to put the gent together in the right place! How I made these cards:- I first of all stamped the three different parts of the gentleman out twice on to white stamping card using Black Gina K Amalgam ink. I then coloured them in using various alcohol markers - Prism, Spectrum Noir and Tonic's Nuvo to be exact. I cut them out and stuck them onto some black card leaving a really narrow border around them all. I then stamped the eyes in using a red ink pad (Rare Earth). For the card on the left, I used one of Toni Darroch's Synergy dies to cut out the main background (I had added this to a previous die cut as a shim but felt I could use it as a proper one)! I used Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue to attach it to...

Japanese lady on large trellis frame - hand coloured home decor piece

Japanese lady on large trellis frame - hand coloured  home decor piece Hi Craft addicts! I had created this background some time ago and thought it would go well with this Japanese Lady die cut from Tattered Lace.... How I made this project:- I used 3 different colours of Cosmic Shimmer's Opal Polishes - Parakeet Blue, Blushed Peach and Pink Thistle to cover both parts of this large (A5 approx) Trellis Frame that Dreamees sell. I used my fingers to blend some of the colours in and then added extra to give it some texture and left it to dry. I cut out the Japanese Geisha lady die (from Tattered Lace) in some white card - I did wonder if I would colour it in at all but decided against it as I thought it would stand out more if plain. I masked off all sides of a cream piece of card and coloured it in using Pinks, Yellow and Green Tim Holtz Distress Crayons and blended them in with a waterbrush. I then added some Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders (Candy Pink, Fireworks Bu...

Wishing you a Bright and Happy Day Stag in silhouette square card

Wishing you a Bright and Happy Day Stag in silhouette square card Hi Craft addicts! I do love these animal silhouettes from Crafter's Companion and so  made this Birthday card using a background I created using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. How I made this card:- I first of all used various Tim Holtz Distress Crayons (Orange, Yellow, Brown and Pink) to create the background.  I blended it in using a paintbrush and some water and let it dry. I then used one of the Tattered Lace Deckle edge Oval dies (I had measured it against the Deer die to make sure it fitted) and cut the background layer out. I cut out the Deer/Stag die using Black card and stuck it to the background layer using Cosmic Shimmer PVA glue. I had previously scored the top and bottom of a 6" square pearlescent card several times and placed the oval background towards the top of the card and stuck it down again using the PVA glue. I stamped the Wishing You a bright & happy day sentiment (from P...

See Everything... eye and bubbles abstract style DL card...

See Everything... eye and bubbles abstract style  DL card... Hi Craft addicts! This is a brilliant new stamp from Visible Image and I had to have a play with it to make this DL card... How I made this card:- I used the Tattered Lace Torn Edge Rectangle dies and cut out 2 different sizes of card - the smaller one in white and the larger one in the bright yellow card which is in the Core Collection Linen effect pack from Create & Craft. I stamped the See Everything image on to the white rectangle using Black Gina K Amalgam ink. I then masked off the eye and some of the bubbles with Cosmic Shimmer Masking Fluid and let it dry. Once it was, I used three shades of Prism ink (French Navy, Arctic Mist and Blue Lagoon),using the lightest one at the top and blending the colours towards the bottom with the darker colours. When it was dry (you can use a heating tool to do this),I rubbed the masking fluid away - I think I will use a different way this time as it doesn't ...

Hip Hip Horray Dragonfly Happy Birthday card using alcohol inks

Image
Hip Hip Horray Dragonfly Happy Birthday card using alcohol inks Hi Craft addicts! Well, I have been playing with alcohol inks again to create a background and decided to use it to make this Dragonfly themed Birthday card.... How I made this card:- I used Yupo paper (the translucent version) from Ranger and added a variety of alcohol inks, again from Ranger, to it (just dropping it on and seeing the results). When it was totally dry, I used the Dragonfly Square die from Sweet Dixie and cut it out. I I then stuck it on to a piece of white card using Pinflair Glue-it glue and cut around it leaving a very narrow border. I also used a black alcohol marker to edge it. I decided to use the Creative Expressions Modern Classic sentiments set (designed by Lisa Horton) and stamped the Hip Hip Hooray in each corner (it was only afterwards that I realised I had slipped doing one). I used Black Gina K Amalgam ink to stamp them and then again to stamp the Happy Birthday on to some whi...

Because You're Amazing... abstract bubbles square blue card

Image
Because You're Amazing... abstract bubbles square  blue card Hi Craft addicts! Well it is #TesselatingTuesday here and so have made this really bright and cheerful card using just one die, some alcohol markers and a Sentiment stamp from Honey Bee Stamps. How I made this card:- I used the Circular Dreams die set by Lisa Horton from Creative Expressions and cut the bubble duo (frame and inner design) out twice using Black Core Collections Linen effect card from Create and Craft. I risked it and cut the two dies out at the same time so I knew it would be a proper fit... I also cut out the main background layer out twice, this time using White card. I did wonder how I would use them but decided to glue the main design on to the white card and see what came! Inspiration (of sorts) arrived, and I coloured one lot of the bubbles using a red alcohol marker, and the other with a blue one. I then trimmed around both of them leaving a narrow border and glued them to opposit...
